Hi All! I LOVE letterpress but my wallet doesn't so I DIYd our letterpress invitations. It wasn't dirt cheap, but definitely 1/4 of what it would've cost to purchase them. It was also cheaper because I collect craft supplies LOL. I've had the L Letterpress machine for about 5 years and it's definitely gotten a workout over the last few weeks!

As you can see I've taken over my parent's dinning room table-- fun times for Christmas dinner!
DETAILS!!
I designed the letterpress plate in Adobe InDesign and then had it printed at Boxcar Press. I also purchased the ink from Boxcar, which is the most expensive purchase of this whole project! The A7 and 4Bar cards are from Holyoke Paper and the envelopes are from LCI Paper. I'm extra so I decided to emboss the return address The stamp was purchased from Etsy.
The invitations aren't finished yet, I need to add our names and monogram, which will also be embossed in gold. I'll post photos of those once I finish!
Outer envelope
I also have a Silhouette Cameo in my stash (collector of craft supplies here!) I have horrible hand writing so I used the Cameo to address the outer envelope with gold gelly roll pens. The names are the only thing in the fancy lettering, the address is in a sans serif plane Jane typeface so no issues with USPS.
TIME/COST
Out of pocket, 100 invites have cost me roughly $250. But again, that's because I had the letterpress platform and Cameo to begin with. Everything else was purchased on sale (mostly Black Friday).
It was a rocky start with the letterpress at first because I was using too much ink. Once I got the hang I was able to knock the invites and response cards out in a day.
Has anyone else use a Cameo or Cricut to address envelopes? It takes a little time but I think I'm going to try and put two envelopes per run and keep my fingers crossed that it won't smear.
