I don't see anything wrong with it. I think most guests are primarily concerned with the food, drink, and music. If money is short, you're best off focusing on those areas as opposed to the venue rental.

If it's a hall that allows food, beverage, dancing and fun, why not?!!?!

Renting fire halls for receptions is very popular where i live! We would've done that if we didn't find a good venue for an inexpensive price tag. 2d Bride is right, the guests are only looking for food, drink, dancing and to have a good time; I don't think people care too much about the hall.

My sister's reception was at a fire hall. It was great. the only complaint she had was table placement (her fault). There was a vending machine right behind the bride and groom so in all the pictures during dinner its visible.

I guess that was the big place to get married when our parents/grandparents got married....

Someone on here is/was having a firehall wedding... Cannot remember who.

If you like it and it works for you, go for it!

I think with the right decor it could be ok, since your wedding's in early September have you considered outdoor parks? They are also cheap and outdoor weddings make for great photos.

We are having our reception at the banquet hall at our local firehouse. The building itself is huge and state-of-the-art. You can have over 1700 seated in there. It is absolutely gorgeous when decorated and you would have no idea that is is associated with the firehouse (except passing it on your way to the hall LOL).
So to answer your question, of course not. But it also depends on the venue itself...

If our wedding was smaller I definitely would have considered my fire department for the reception. I used to be a volunteer firefighter there, so it would have been really cool I think. I say go for it Smiley smile Get some cool pictures on the fire trucks!

I don't think there is anything wrong with using a fire hall. Don't get bogged down with the names of things. If it is what fits in your budget, go for it. If you are not happy with the appearance, spruce it up. There are so many ways you can dress up a place with simple DIY projects.

We were married at a B&B that bills itself as a "Biker's Residence". Our guests could not believe how we had transformed it into a casually elegant big party reception.

    Good luck!

I agree with 2nd bride 100%. I have to admit that I've always had a great time at hall weddings. Good food, music and lots and lots of love and happiness make the celebration special and memorable. Go for it!

Nothing wrong with it at all! The last wedding I attended was at a firehall and it was beautiful! With the right decorations and the right people (there to celebrate you and FH's union), it will be amazing.

We danced until 11 and had a great time at the wedding I attended!

Fire hall weddings in my area are very popular! The firehouses that offer up their halls for receptions are pretty big. My FBIL's reception was at one of our local fire companies.

We are having ours at a social hall for people who enjoy fishing & hunting! If it works for you then I say go for it Smiley smile
