Firehouse/Hall Rental Venue

Chrissy, on March 15, 2015 at 4:25 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 12

Hi Brides! I was wondering if any of you are/have considered getting married at a firehouse or VFW hall? Due to certain circumstances, our wedding budget has gone down Smiley sad At first, I was kind of against ever getting married at a hall, but the more I look into it, the more I can envision it being something beautiful AND in budget! I know it's probably alot more work, but in the end would be worth it! Luckilly, I live on the Jersey Shore and since hurricane sandy, alot of them have been remodeled and don't look quite ad 70's wood panel chic ;D hehe Any info would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!!!

My brother rented out an American Legion, and his wife truly transformed the room into something amazing. I don't feel comfortable with sharing their pictures on here without their permission, but I'd be more than happy to message them to you or something! They hung those little paper lanterns from the ceiling, rented linens, made their centerpieces to cut costs, used Christmas lights and sheer drapes behind the head table to make it look elegant. Honestly, I never thought their vision was possible, but my SIL did a spectacular job! You can definitely do it on a budget!! It was a lot of work, but I had so much fun because she allowed me to help out with everything.

Where are you exactly? I live in Wall. There is the South Wall banquet hall which is lovely, includes tables, chairs, linens and I believe service including a bartend (I think). You just need the caterer. There is also Sandy Hook chapel which is only $1,750 to rent, but you have to bring everything in. Maybe they provide chairs, I can't remember. There is also Hamilton Fire Banquet Hall. It's pretty because there is actually a cute little lake behind it http://hamiltonfire.com/Banquet_Hall.html Good luck!

I've been to plenty of weddings at VFWs and various halls. Everything looked great.

I am having mine at a community center. Yep pretty much that same thing as the vfw halls except they don't have catering. I have seen some look very amazing while others feel flat. The one major thing is to look into your options on how you can hang things up. At my venue we get to only use fun tack so we are limited on what we can hang up.

I am getting married in a community center banquet hall that has chandeliers and a very Victorian feel to it. It is very pretty and came with tables and chairs. I have been to several wedding that have been in VFW halls. They can be very pretty with some planning and work. Good Luck!!!!!

There is a recently updated fire hall near where we live... my friend had her daughter's first birthday there because they have such a large family. It was really nice and I would definitely consider something like that if I didn't have a budget for another venue!!

I'm getting married at a rustic banquet hall and it's really saving us money. I really love it! Plus a lot of them have open vendor policy and you can do what you want. Good luck girl Smiley smile

    Chrissy,

The Women's Civic Club of Stone Harbor is located at 96th & The Beach. You rent our venue and hire the vendors of YOUR choice. We recently joined wedding wire as we are the best kept secret at the shore.
