First Christmas with my husband, how was yours?

Mrs.ChanandlerBong, on December 27, 2017 at 9:04 AM Posted in Married Life 0 25

According to the rules this is allowed because its newlywed related.

My first Christmas with my Husband as man and wife was super successful! We exchanged gifts prior to going to my parents house since my gift to him was NSFW lol. We got to do some awesome things like meet up with MFB in the city and see family.

How was everyone's holiday if you celebrate or life as a newlywed/engaged couple if you dont?

Not married yet but we had a wonderful Christmas weekend!

We hosted his parents at our house for brunch on Saturday before heading to my parents for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Now that the holidays are over we know that the next few months are going to fly but and our May wedding will be here before we know it!

Our frist Christmas as Mr and Mrs Was great and the kids really enjoyed everyrhing. Hubs family came for dinner and my sisters family came for brunch. We will continue this weekend with my aunt who was sick as can be on Christmas. Hubs says he still a few things to get me. But for me it wasnt about the gifts its about being with family.

I have to admit that this holiday was stressful for us as an engaged couple. We were trying to save money for our home and the holidays always interfere with efforts to save. We also had to spend all of Christmas Eve with his family and all of Christmas Day with my family so there was literally no alone time. I cannot wait to be married and be able to entertain at our home and at least have that alone time.

Our first Christmas married was awesome! Both of our kids were/are sick though, so that put a damper on things. But my husband got me a beautiful ornament that says "Our First Christmas" with a wedding photo. He earned some bonus points for that. Smiley laugh

Good, but not as great as it could have been. Lovely morning together but FH pressured me into preparing turkey early (spatchcocked birds cook in less than 2 hours), so it was only warm by lunch.
FBIL's family were thoughtless and rude. I mean, the kids are sweet and funny but one kept asking how much things cost and when I gave them veggie options (nothing too weird) they informed me they don't eat vegetables.
It was a good first time hosting, though, and weather cooperated with a lovely outdoor luncheon.
(Decided on a few things to add to the registry, but enjoyed disposables for the day.)

My fiancé came down with the flu Christmas morning! 😩 So needless to say we delayed Christmas dinner at our house and will be doing dinner and presents during the day on New Years Eve with our families. I’m just glad that he’s starting to feel better!!

Ours was a success! We hosted both our immediate families for Christmas Eve (16 people total) which I was suuuper nervous about- H's mother, stepdad, and grandmother all work in catering so cooking for them had me stressed! But it was perfect. After everyone left and we were cleaning up, we slow danced in the kitchen and it was so romantic and sweet. Then I passed out on the couch while he finished the dishes, lol.

I'm exhausted from running all over town and eating/drinking way too much/cannot believe I'm back at work today. Ugh.

It was our first (and only) Christmas engaged! We finally saw some of FH's family that we haven't seen since we got engaged. Lots of congratulations and excitement surrounding the upcoming wedding. We got a beautiful bride and groom ornament from FMIL and FFIL as well.

Ours was also really good, busy, but good. We made the decision to not give each other gifts this year since the wedding was so close and then his computer crashed and we decided to upgrade to a brand new and really nice one. So money was a bit tight. We exchanged stockings and he surprised me with a portable charger for my phone, which I needed! We went to see the new Star Wars movie Christmas Eve in the morning, then went to my family's house to eat dinner and exchange presents with my family and went to the Christmas Eve vigil mass (10:00pm not Midnight). WOke up on Christmas Day had coffee with my mom, stopped at my sister's house briefly before going to his parents house to exchange more presents and eat more food! Got home around 6:00pm Christmas night and watched Love Actually. Had to go back to his parents yesterday to visit with his brother and we invited his family over on Thursday...lots of in law time this week! It's a good thing I like his family! But I am exhausted!

We had a great christmas. This was the first year we did not spend christmas even going to my childhood church and spending the night at my parents house. It was a little weird but it was nice to start to branch off into our own traditions. We had a really relaxing christmas day at my family's home - We got there for brunch and just relaxed - opened gifts and then had a nice dinner!

@FMH where did he get the ornament? DH and I realized too late that we probably should do something along these lines so I figured I could find someone on etsy after the holidays.

I got engaged, so great for me! So excited and ready to jump in to planning. Spent the holiday with his side of the family since mine is far away and had a great time.

He bought the ornament at Walmart or Target. It was nothing really fancy, it was more that he thought about doing it and put a picture in it and everything. He's not usually one to be sentimental about things, so this was a huge deal for us. lol.

I also ordered one on Etsy that I didn't tell him about, so I felt bad when he gave it to me and told him about it. But the one I ordered was only $13 with shipping and doesn't have a photo, so we will just have 2! I'm ok with that. :-)

Ours was good! A little busier than I'm used to, but still nice. We didn't get each other anything since we just had the wedding and honeymoon, but we're talking about getting a puppy in early spring. I had to wake his kids up on Christmas morning, was surprised it wasn't the other way around! Kids opened presents, and then we went to my parents for our yearly Christmas brunch. My dad does all the cooking and since my cousins all have significant others/are starting to have kids, the guest count grows exponentially each year. We did a white elephant gift exchange and then went home for a nap. After nap, we went to MIL's house and had traditional Christmas dinner and another white elephant exchange. I was exhausted by the time we got home! Thankfully we had yesterday off as well, so we slept in and then went on a day date to see Star Wars. Getting together with just my parents on and Brother and SIL on the 7th to do family gift exchange, as my mom was sick for the whole week before Christmas and asked that we postpone. All in all, a great Christmas, and now back to work!

We've been having a great time! It's the first time in our five years together that we've been able to spend Christmas together, it's been really nice not being separated. We're still on Christmas vacation since DH's office is closed until after New Years. We decided to visit my family, so we're still down there. We've baked lots of cookies, went to see the latest Star Wars last night, and plan to go see The Nutcracker and visit my MOH and her husband later this week. I think I got the most romantic Christmas present I'll ever get. He had an artist paint a picture of the lake where he proposed to me. I was so surprised!

We had a nice but busy Christmas. We are 10 days out from the wedding so really couldn't afford to get people gifts this year. We went to a few family parties and are discussing potentially hosting Christmas next year which I think could be really great.

This was our first/second? Christmas engaged since he proposed on Christmas last year. It was also our first Christmas away from our families. It was a super chill day, we opened presents and napped lol. His family is coming up from Florida tomorrow so we’re having Christmas with them too.

We had a fun but busy Christmas! We went to a christmas eve eve servuce that FIL conducted (hes a prison chaplain), broke out our china to have a special Christmas eve dinner just the two of us, and then did Christmas day with my family. It was a fun but long day, especially because I had to work yesterday. Then we're celebrating Christmas with his family on NYE. (DH kind of heard it about that one because I had planned a special dinner for the 2 of us and he made the plans with MIL without checking with me. We worked it out, but I'm still a little annoyed that he couldn't just think to check with me first.)
Also, I do have to say how glad I was that we established alternating holidays last year so we didn't have to deal with drama this year!

It was great, but exhausting from all the family togetherness, and that was just on my side! Thankfully we had some down time on Christmas Day that we were able to spend by ourselves.. that was probably my favorite part. Right now we’re driving to NJ from VA (stopping in Baltimore for the day!) to see his family and celebrate with them. It’ll be the first time I’ve seen most of them since the engagement in August, so I’m sure there will be lots of excitement! I’m glad for the long car ride so I can rest up - this introvert needs some down time!

Well, we got married on the 21st (since you can’t see dates anymore on this ridiculous update) and basically he, I, or the both of us (and then the dog decided to get in on it too) have been sick since the day after. Glad I don’t believe in omens...lol

My stepmom was the only family member who decided to stay after the wedding, which honestly kinda sucked because we were sick but also because I just wanted to be able to relax with my new husband and not have any obligations but oh well. She did treat us to a very nice Christmas dinner that i wish we had been able to appreciate more.

All in all we are thrilled to be married and just want to feel healthy again.
