First Class Free Upgrade??

Not all flights have first class/ business class- my flight to italy and ireland did not- soo it may not work. Sometimes you can ask, but the seats unfortunately may not be together- bummer! Id say youll probs have to make it work in coach? 🤷‍♀️

Nowadays there are far too many people with status in airline loyalty programs who can use miles or miles/$ to upgrade that those seats will not just be given away.

I’m a flight attendant! This does not work, trust me. Even if there are empty seats in first class, which there rarely are, flight attendants can lose their jobs if they move someone up, as it is considered theft of services. With everyone documenting and filming everything now, it gets back around to the company. No FA I know is willing to risk their job for that. The best way to upgrade to first or business is to just buy a ticket in that class, or put yourself on the upgrade list (probably for a fee). Wish I had more options for you, but even my FH (a pilot for a different airline) and I are going to travel coach to get to and from the wedding/ honeymoon.

Just use credit card points. Book 330 days in advance and you’ll get the best reward value. I was able to snag business class flights to Greece essentially fo free!

That’s not really how most airlines work anymore— upgrades are generally something you need to buy into. You might be able to pay to get on the list for an upgrade, but they’re not just gonna hand it to you cuz you’re newlywed

My uncle works for an airline as a FA and he said the best we can hope for is some free drink tickets (he will probably have a few to spare) but no upgrades. I'm ok with that, although first class would be nice we are on a budget so coach it is for us.

I've done it twice and it's worked for me haha. Both times told the gate people we would be willing to pay for the upgrade (which was true!) because we were newly engaged and wanted to sit together.
