First Dance & Daddy Daugher Dances...

Stephanie, on December 11, 2014 at 10:01 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 23

Ok, so thanks to the Victoria's Secret fashion show, my fiance and I have a new first dance song: Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran. I heard it an instantly started to tear up. As my fiance looked at the tears rolling down my face, i prepared myself to be made fun of.. but he was like "Babe, i think i love this song.." =D ... lol now to learn the dance moves from the music video in my ballgown! (sike! .. kinda =P )

Also, I am still deciding on my Daddy Daughter Dance. I have been stuck between "I Loved Her First" by Heartland.. and "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw.. and then i head "Stealing Cinderella" by Chuck Wicks... and well I cant decided! I am looking for something unique. Not the same song all my friends used.

Any Daddy Daughter song suggestions?

I'm doing "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw!!! I love it!! and then in the middle of the song I'm gonna have the DJ cut it and play "My Girl" so it's not a slow song the whole time. We are all about having fun!! Smiley smile

Those were my 3 choices as well. I chose My Little Girl because I think it's more about a relationship between a father and daughter and not a song sung from the Groom's point of view! Another cute song is Daddy's Boots by Dustin Lunch!

I couldn't decide either, so I used Garage Band to combine "Butterfly Kisses", "Cinderella", and "I Loved Her First" into one song. My dad cried when I played it for him. Smiley smile

Listen or read the lyrics to Nancy Sinatra's "It's for my Dad." It starts off a little slow and then has a quicker tempo- such a great song if you are close to your father. I had so much dancing to it.

I let my dad pick & he surprised me-first he wanted the theme song to Sesame Street (I belted it in church as a 2-yo) and then he suggested "Circle of Life" by Elton John. He used to yell out the African chant from Lion King all the time when I had friends over in high school. We both loved this song & neither one of us cried-an amazing feat! Pretty sure it would've been waterworks city with some of the above suggestions!

Those are the same songs we looked at for our father-daugter dance. In the end we didn't do one though because my dad hates dancing, lol. I love stealing cinderella though!!!

"I Loved Her First" by Heartland and "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw are really nice, sentimental songs. Some others we like (and recommend) are "Stealing Cinderella" by Chuck Wicks, "Walk With You" by Edwin McCain, "In My Daughter's Eyes" by Martina McBride, "Daddy's Little Girl" by Frankie J, "A Song For My Daughter" by Ray Allaire, "My Girl" by The Temptations, "I Turn To You" by Christina Aguilera. There's a couple more classics we really like, too.

I'm doing I loved her first.

But a not very popular, yet still great (if I felt that relationship with my dad I would use it) is:

    Father& daughter by Paul Simon.

It's actually my mom's song to me. It reminds her of us so much even though it's about a father. It's a great song!

My dad and I chose Wildflowers by Tom Petty. I loved it because my dad and I don't have your typical "daddy's little girl" relationship with each other and I absolutely can't stand country music anyway.

For father/daughter I think we are going to do "When You Need Me" by Bruce Springsteen (my dad is a huge fan of his).

My dad picked his favorite song, My girl by the temptations. We used to drive around and listen to motown music together so it couldn't be more perfect!

I'm thinking "Because you loved me" by Celine Dion. It's more from my point of view to my dad/parents!

Josh Groban's You Raise Me Up or Heartland's I Loved Her First. Heartlands is something my dad told FH the first time they met. So there's that reason. Plus it makes me cry. If I get to have dancing that is. May not be able to with the venue I'm thinking of.
