Elegant does not equal stuffy. You can still have your personality infused into the event and still have a lovely, elegant wedding; in fact, it might actually make it better because there should be moments of lightheartedness to balance the seriousness. Ever since Miley was a judge on The Voice, I've gained new respect for her. She is very strategic about her publicity stunts, and she has an amazing voice. No shame there. Go for it!

Whether or not people can stand the voice of Miley or not, its your dance you decide what song to have.

Honestly, if I was at a wedding, a first dance song not "matching" or flowing with the theme/ambiance wouldn't even cross my mind.

If you love it, do it. Your mother is not dancing to it so why should she care. Your song & your dance. Go for it! I highly doubt anyone will think anything.

I'm 90% sure I'm doing the theme from New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh with my dad. It has meaning to us & i don't care what anyone thinks.

You aren't playing 'Wrecking Ball' so I don't see the issue lol. I wouldn't think twice about your song choice in this instance.

I got made fun of for picking T Swift as my walk down the aisle song lol but who cares? It's a beautiful love song and it will be played by our violinist so it will sound pretty. ETA: It's the song "You are in Love"
