First dance song help!

Ceelie , on July 29, 2019 at 7:21 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13
I keep going back and forth for our first dance song. I for sure want it to be a slow song, but just don’t know. I always envisioned it being “I won’t give up” by Jason Mraz. Mainly bc my FH showed me that song in high school and ever since then it always reminded me of him. But the rest of our music is all gonna be oldies. So would it be weird for this one to be a non-older generation song to use for our first dance?

Not weird at all. Our playlists range from classicals, to Lynyrd Skynyrd, to Backstreet Boys. It's your day, play what you want.

Nope not weird! We had a crazy mix of songs and it was a lot of fun. But if the song means something to you then absolutely use it!

Not weird at all. I'm having a wide range of music for my reception and like previous comments mentioned it's your day so play what you want! I think that's a great first dance choice!

As pp said, it’s not weird at all! You should play music that you love or that means something to two of you, no matter how old or new it is. A mix of old & new is actually fun!
If “I won’t give up” is your song, then it’s perfect for your first dance. Our song has always been Mirrors by JT, so we are playing it for our recessional & we’re doing Dirty Dancing final dance for our first dance, because it’s our favorite dance ever 🤗

Not at all!!! It is special to you all and I think a great meaning behind it. Music doesn’t have to have a style, you just have to feel comfortable getting groovy.

Not weird at all. Your first dance song should be whatever moves you and FH, or has special meaning for you. If that's a more modern song, so be it. Your guests will be happy when they see how happy you and FH are!!
