First dance songs that aren't cliche?

We danced to "Sigh No More" by Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon .When FH and I met one of the things we first bonded over was our love for Shakespeare. On our first date he invited me to his house to watch "Much Ado About Nothing", one of his favorite Shakespearean plays. The year we got engaged they released a remake of the film version directed by Joss Whedon (who we love). The song was used during the film and though the lyrics are less than romantic (sigh no more ladies sigh no more men were deceivers ever) it has always reminded of us of how we got together.

We considered "Give me a Reason" by Pink! as we have been through quite a bit, but felt it was better suited for a vow renewal. We ultimately danced to "Better Together" by Jack Johnson, because we really are.

We danced to "Always," by Joan Armatrading, which is completely obscure. My BIL sang and played Randy Newman's "Coming Home" which was also beautiful and apropos.

BUT, my dad and I danced to My Hero by the Foo Fighters. It was the Skin and Bones version so it was slower and acoustic. I've never seen it done before

We are using Then by Brad Paisley. I do not go to many weddings so who knwos if they play that alot..but it is our song

Our first dance was to "So Easy" by Phillip Phillips. We wanted a shorter (about 3 min), sweet song that people hadn't heard a bunch of times. It was perfect for us.

We don't have a song, and I'm quite honestly not a fan of love songs, so I've been trying to think of something a little off the wall. The only thing I've come up with is the OCMS version of Wagon Wheel.

If I were more confortable dancing, I'd love to do somthing like they did on Everybody Loves Raymond when Robert and Amy got married... the remix of A Little Less Conversation thing. I thought it was hilarious.

Our first dance will be to "Cosmic Love" by Florence and the Machine.

Carmen- Yeah, "Then" is a pretty popular first dance song! My brother and his wife used it.

We used "I do. (Cherish You)" by Mark Wills, which hasn't been mentioned on here, besides by me, that I've noticed. But I'm sure it's popular. Our backup was the other "I do" I told a friend that and she used it 2 weeks before us lol

"A Catch" by Dawn and Hawks was our first dance and it is only 2 minutes long...which I think is great!

Our song is Smile by Uncle Kracker, I always tell FH that no matter what, always make me smile!

We are dancing to Amazed by Lonestar. My FH is a DJ and when we would go to events he would always play it toward the end to dance with me to.

"Halo" by Beyonce

We've been together for about 6 years now and this song has just stuck as "our song." It'll be interesting to see how some of my more traditional family members react, but it has a special place in both our hearts and we both knew immediately it would be our first dance song.
