First dance songs that aren't cliche?

I'm trying to convince FH we should do "not fire, not ice", Ben Harper, but he wants something country so we'll see.

We are torn between "Come Away With Me" by Norah Jones and "Stay With You" by John Legend.

I never have heard anybody using our song. We danced to "Thats Whats Up" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. I tweeted to the band that we used it for our first dance and they responded to us! It was really awesome. Lennon and Maisy covered it a few weeks before our wedding so more people know the song now but I haven't heard of anyone else using it.

A family friend did a cover of the song we liked, which made it special.

A good thing to keep in mind is that unless your guests have been to a dozen weddings in the past year or so, they're not going to be sick of any given song. Except "Wind beneath my Wings", "Marry Me', "I think i want to marry you" and that ukelele thing.

See I always wanted 'Marry Me' by Train. But I've been changing my mind slightly over the last few weeks.

Now I'm not sure. We don't really have a song - and we have such wildly different taste in music it's hard to find something that works for both of us.

We did "The Story." It's originally by Brandi Carlisle but we did the Sarah Simmons version. LOVE that song.

I want to do"Hold On" by Michael Bublé, but I have to convince FH first.

We're doing "Differences" by Ginuwine. It's been our song for a long time. But we're going to see if the D.J can cut some time off of it. It's a long song lol

We are doing John Prine's "Big Old Goofy World". It's an old folk/country song that suits us because we're both super tall (my 6'1 to his 6'4). You'd have to hear it to understand, but it's perfect for us. Runner up was INXS "never tear us apart" .

We're leaning toward Sam Cooke's "You Send Me".

I love Aerosmith "Dont want to miss a thing' but it is so long. But ST is a neighbor of my mother so I am hoping he will come and sing it for us. Yea - right.

We didn't have a non-cliche 1st dance song, but we did choose "different" entrance/processional songs. I walked down the aisle to instrumentals from "A Storybook Love" from the movie Princess Bride.

We are doing avant ft keke wyatt "you and I"

I want us to dance to "a couple of forevers" by Chrisette Michelle.. but FH said he wanted to keep looking, so we'll see.

We're dancing to Love of my Life by Brian McKnight.

Our song I guess would be "A Pirate's Look at Forty" by Jimmy Buffett, but I don't know if we're dancing to it yet or not.
