First diy Make-up Trail

Anna, on June 25, 2020 at 11:17 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 20
I’m doing my own makeup for the wedding. I don’t normally wear a lot, but I do like a bold lip color. I decided to try eyeliner this past Sunday and my FH commented that he really liked it, so I thought I might practice it some more before the big day. Also I love Lipsense because it can last most of the day and I can blend/layer colors to make my own unique color.

The first picture is with natural brows. The second picture I added some brow color. First diy Make-up Trail 1

I used waterproof Covergirl Lash Blast mascara (big orange tube). It worked nicely and survived the tearsSmiley smile

I suggest making sure you have something in your stomach other than caffeine when you do your makeup...I had been calm ALL DAY until it was time to start getting ready and suddenly the anxiety hit right as I was trying to apply waterproof liquid eyeliner. Lol!

Oh and if you cry, pat or blot the tears instead of wiping. That will smudge lower eyeliner.

I can definitely see that happening. I don’t drink caffeine on a regular basis. Too sensitive, save it only for running a long race or driving at night. I definitely can’t handle liquid liner. This is pencil from Senegence. Their waterproof mascara lasts through my running and sweating, lipsense too.

Definitely go with brow color and don't be afraid to make it a little more bold.

Also if you have a similar shade shirt to your wedding dress (even top half style) that will help you decide what look would go best. Keep in mind what looks good with some clothes doesn't look good with your planned outfit.

I hadn't thought about what to wear when trying makeup.
I’m a teacher, so I have the summer off and between the many projects I have lined up, I’ll practice my makeup some more. The boldness with eyeliner and brows intimidates me for sure. My dad made a rude comment the last time I tried it all, but he’s only really used to seeing me without anything on.

Thanks. I’m wearing it down, lots of curls, but probably at least pinned enough to keep it out of my face. I have a habit of tucking it behind my ears, but I don’t like the way it looks when I do it.

Thanks. That’s been a hard one for me to practice and get used to, but I also just freshened my hair color and I do think the darker brow looks better.

Go online to Youtube and watch some videos that will help you.

As for eyeliner - I don't use it, I use my mascara brush to create a natural eyeliner and it doesn't smudge (unless you're trying different colors then go eyeliner).

Definitely invest in a primer before your foundation, that will help out.

Eyebrows should be the same or slightly darker than your natural hair. I have light brown hair but use medium brown brow sticks by Elf. They're inexpensive and last forever. I'm not being picky just helping (hope you know that) - Bring your eyebrows in a bit, you want them to line up with the inside of your eye to give you that natural glam look.

I just read in your other comment that you stated you were wearing your hair down, definitely test the makeup with your hairstyle as well. All this plays together

Thanks. I’m doing a bridal/boudoir portrait session the beginning of August. Been planning and idea gathering for that. I’ll do my official hair trial then.

I’ve used ELF products in the past, used to use their lip stain a lot. Actually used their pore minimized here. But I only use a light powder foundation after everything else to set she control shine. I’ve yet to find a foundation I like the feel of and it never fails that my nose itches and I wipe it off.

I’ll look up some videos. Thanks for the tips.

Secret to long lasting make up (it's only taken me forever to learn)

This is my routine when I have LOTS of time:

Keihl's glow formula hydrator (wait 5 - 10 minutes to dry)

Primer (I use Smashbox water primer and it can be used to set) - Wait 10 minutes to dry

Estee Lauder double wear (I've been using this foundation more than 20 years - I swear by it) - If you can get a sample try it.... I've deviated throughout the years but always come back to EL/DW. (let it dry - 10 minutes) - use a sponge or brush to apply

    Bronzer / blush

eyeshadow / brows / liner / mascara (better than sex waterproof mascara)

EL powder foundation to top it off

    Setting powder

Smashbox water primer spray (spritzed) - let it dry a good 10 minutes

This makeup won't move / budge or do anything. I go swimming can shower and it still looks perfect.

Anna - definitely do this, but still use a brow pencil to fill in the gaps.
