First fitting, dress does not fit, 100 days until wedding

Jennsis, on February 17, 2014 at 7:18 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 18

I've seen lots of these posts, so sorry for repeating but my worse fear came true. I went to my 1st dress fitting today and the dress was very tight and hard to zipper up. The seamstress was able to get the zipper all the way, but the back looked bunched together, not smooth. My wedding is in 100 days exactly. The seamstress is having me come back in one month from today to try it on again with the hopes that I can lose enough weight. I don't want to have my dress taken out, nor do I think it will look very good. I'm motivated enough to do everything to lose the weight, I just don't know if one month is enough time.

When I read other messages of dresses not fitting, no one explained how bad it really was. Was the dress just a little uncomfortable or did it not zipper at all? I am hoping that because I could still zipper the dress that I don't need to lose too much for it to fit properly again. And before anyone recommends Spanx, I was already wearing pair. I am just really depressed

I don't understand why your dress won't fit unless you lose weight. Did the store recommend the wrong size? DId they make the wrong measurements? Did you tell them you were planning to lose weight?

In a month you can prob lose a lot of weight. But keeping it off till the wedding mat be difficult, I'm sorry to say. Typically when you lose a lot of weight quickly, it's heard to keep it off for a long period of time.

Maybe get a corset back so you have more wiggle room?

Drink lots of water, pick a few meals a week to skip meat on, focus on not eating processed foods. Simple changes like that can make a big difference.

Definitely get the corset back if that's an option.

I don't want to give you false hope about being able to lose weight in a month without going to extreme measures. It can be very challenging, and if you have problem areas, it's very tough to reduce in certain areas.

Celia has a good point, why did the seamstress take it in so much?? That is very negligent of them!

Women forget that retaining water and bloating can cause you to "gain" 8ish pounds at various times of the month even if you are on a BC pill or whatever. You should lay off processed foods - because that equals salt. Salt will make you puff up. So, eat home cooked meals, no added salt, and drink lots of water.

If you are careful about what you eat you should be able to lose 6-8 pounds by next month. What are your eating and exercise habits like now?

I was a month out and my dress didn't zip all the way. It was the worst feeling I basically cried all weekend. I have lost 5 pounds since just by eating better. My dress now fits because my seamstress is awesome and took the dress out. If you work at it you can do it.

Drink a gallon of water a day, no sodas (even diet). Shop the perimeter of the grocery store, stay away from the center where the processed food is . Do cardio, 30 min-1 hr a day.

I am afraid of that and that's exactly why I ordered my dress with a lace up corset back.

Hey, I think this is totally doable. If you could still zip the dress up then you probably only NEED to loose an inch around your waste for it to fit comfortably. For me, loosing 10 pounds = about 1 inch off my waste, which is slow compared to my friends who can loose up to 4 inches per 10 pounds! It is very different from person to person; but I'd say that loosing about 10 pounds sounds right.

That being said, I did Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 for 60 days and lost 10 pounds each time (per 30 days) so I recommend that. If you're not feeling the work-out video vibe, run for an hour at least 5 days per week. Jillian will get you to burn those calories faster though so you'd only need to set aside about a half hour with her.

In addition, only eat 3 servings of meat a week (unless you have some dietary restrictions) and eat a LOT of spinach. In your salads, in your soups, boiled with salt... Spinach is a wonder food that is packed with nutrients, AND low fat, AND makes you poop! Do one of those BMI calculator things to see how many calories you should take in each day to loose 2.5lb per week and try and make those calories nutrient rich, not full of animal fat. If you find you aren't getting enough nutrients, try adding women's one a day or something like that.

But 10lb in 30 days; TOTALLY doable.

Another bride on here recommended Jamie Eason's LiveFit (Google it) to me. It's quite a commitment to eating clean and working out and it's a 12 week program. I'm in week 7 and I've lost 6 lbs- 2" on my hips, 1.5" on my waist, .5"on my bust and .5" on my thighs and everything is fitting looser.

It is 100% doable to lose like 6-8 lbs in the next month. Like others have said Drink LOTS of water- at least 2 liters daily, no sodas, do at least 30 minutes of cardio several times a week if not daily and eat as cleanly as you can- lots of veggies and lean meats. If you need help tracking it all MyFitnessPal is a good website/ app. If you join and want friends my username is HSokol. I've lost 20 ish lbs since last April 15th. I lost 3.5 inches on my hip, 2 off my thighs and 9 inches off my waist. I have been. Bad the last 2 months but prior to that I was working out at least 5/6 times a week. If you can manage that many times and eat as clean as possible I TOTALLY think you can lose about 6-8 lbs in a month & more if you keep it up.

You can do it! Smiley smile Don't stress yet - I know for me stress makes me eat more!! You have plenty of time to get the dress to fit, otherwise they might be able to let it out a little if you are still worried closer to the big day. Just be sure to ask if the holes will be noticeable. I had my dress taken it about 3 weeks out, and they took it in too much and had to let it out some. You could kind of see the holes in the dress but it wasn't too noticeable, especially in pictures

    Good Luck!!!

So when i had tried my dress on, it zipped but was very tight. I wanted to lose a few lbs so i would be able to eat normally at the wedding. I used myfitnesspal.com and counted calories. I lost 5lbs in 10 days. It's very easy... i basically eat very small portions every 2 hours so i'm never hungry. And yes, drink lots of water.
