First Fitting This Week!

Rosie, on May 30, 2021 at 8:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

Eek!! I'm so excited. The dress has hung in my house for the past 6 months and tomorrow is finally my first fitting!

I would be less nervous except Aunt Flo has turned up just in time to attend with me Smiley sad

I plan to bring:

* the dress (obviously!)

* the extra fabric we ordered for the alterations

* the sash

* the hoop skirt

* the shoes (both the high heels and flats)

* the under things (just to make sure they don't show through)

I also plan on putting my hair up and doing my makeup similar to how I intend to have it.

I would bring the veil, except the seamstress is making that, and I intend to ask her about shapwear, so I haven't bought any yet. Is there anything I've forgotten? What else should I bring? What happened at your first fitting?

    I too had my first fitting this week! During my appointment she pinned the sides, hem will be my next fitting. I brought all of those things and needed none. I worn a minimal Spanx and might not be wearing it as I've got 5 layers and it didn't make much of a difference, but will make the final decision at the next fitting once the sides have been taken in

    Thanks, that's comforting to know! I've heard so many conflicting things. I've heard they often do hem at the first fitting for example, and some places won't actually sew the sides until closer to the day in case you lose/gain weight. I guess I'll find out my seamstress' approach tomorrow!

    I would bring everything you listed just in case but for my first fitting she just pinned the top and it was really quick. But I'm sure every seamstress works differently so might as well be prepared!

    Thank you! That's a good point...

    She does have to take up the straps, plus we are also putting a LOT of tulle underneath instead of/as well as the hoop I was given at the store, so I guess she won't really be able to hem until those things are done.

    I suppose it doesn't hurt to take literally everything, even if you don't need it. Better than needing something you don't have!
