First looks have been a major trend for the last few years - and your photographer will definitely ask if you plan on doing one! What do you think about first looks? Are they overrated as a photo op, or still an underrated option? Do you think first looks are overrated or underrated? Photo by Eden...

    Seems overrated to me.
One of the reasons I'm not doing it.
Wasnt ever planning to, but after joining this forum, no way is this happening.

Overrated. I am being very traditional about this. I don't want my FH to see me at all that day until I am walking down the isle.

I think first look is a great idea, if you don’t mind your groom seeing you before your wedding. I don’t want my FH to see me until I am walking down the aisle. So, we are doing a first kiss but he will be blindfolded.

Id say overrated but i think its a cute ideal to capture that moment but then again its being captured when you walk down that aisle sooooo whats the point? I think its done so the bride and groom and enjoy cocktail hour with their guests being that the pictures are out of the way

I love the idea of a first look. We are doing that and I’m so excited to share that private and intimate moment when I first see my fiancé!

Underrated. I reeeaaaalllyyyy wanted to do one. FH said he didn't like the idea. He thought it would take away from him seeing me walk down the aisle. So I respected that and decided against it. For people that do it, I think it's soooo precious

UNDERratedI did this. I feel like it helped us have a lot of time because we didn't have any after the ceremony to do photos

IMO overrated. The entrance to my venue have these beautiful drape curtains and I can't wait till I am standing behind them and they pull them up to reveal my gorgeous FH standing in front of the people I love. I can only imagine how emotional that moment will be. To help with time so we can enjoy cocktail hour, the 2 hours we have before the ceremony the groom and his party will take pics together the first hour and then I will come the second hour while they go hang in the grooms suite and my party will take pics. Then after the ceremony, we will take them together. Shouldn't take more than 30 mins if that. This will also make sure that I am on time.

Underrated! It’s a sweet intimate moment for a couple where they can fully express emotions without all eyes on them.

I honestly think this is a personal choice and can't be categorized as over or under rated. There have been great reasons for people to do it and not.

This is the one thing my FH and I cannot agree on. I would like to do a first look, but he wants to wait to see me until I walk down the aisle. My worry is having enough time for pictures as we are having an outdoor ceremony and sunset is at 5:30 here in Texas. He has assured me that we will delay our reception (which is actually at the same location) to ensure we have ample time for photos. I'm giving him his "win" although he knows it's a bit stressful to me, haha!

Neither. It's a super personal decision! I like the idea, but my FH absolutely not and I'm not dying to do one, so we are not doing one.

I don't think either. I'm wanting to personally see FH's reaction to seeing me and I can do that whether it's a first look or seeing me walk down the aisle. Plus it means I don't have to buy appetizers and try to keep guests entertained between ceremony and reception since we'll have all photos done before the ceremony.

I don’t want a first look as because it’s photo op, I want that private moment between just the two of us because I know the rest of it will go so fast. I know we’ll both be anxious and I feel like it will help us both calm down, and help me stop stressing about every little thing. I think it’s overrated if used specifically as a photo op to get done photos out of the way, otherwise not.

I have mixed feelings. I love the traditional bride entrance view and seeing his emotional look and expression. And not to mention it's bad lick to see the bride before hand....
However those few precious alone time moments before your wedding for.just the two of you to share....

I think it's nice for those you want that to have a special moment with their spouse to be. We are having a super traditional wedding where my FH won't see me until I walk down the aisle in church, but we built in some time between the ceremony and reception where it will be just the two of us.
