First Look: Overrated or Underrated?

Underrated. I get the idea of not seeing the bride until she walks down the aisle, but a first look is so much more private.

not to mention FH insists on it so he cry’s less during the ceremony 😂😂

I think it’s somewhat overrated not that it isn’t a lovely experience but it takes away the traditional aspect of a wedding I am looking forward to. We will have photos done before the wedding but hubby will be blindfolded.

Underrated! I’m super excited because with our Orthodox ceremony, I will be walking down the aisle with my FH. It’s perfect so I can see his reaction before I see him at the church!

I think the photo op can be overrated at times but 1st looks as a whole and the intimate 1 on 1 time is underrated.

I was at first very against first looks but the more I looked into it and talked to my photographer and other brides, we’re all about FIRST LOOKS!!! my photographer put it best when she said “the rest of the day, you and your spouse will be surrounded by people, first looks is a moment for both of you to have a special moment together and take in the intensity of the day”. Not to mention, we’re paying for the wedding by ourselves and therefore we want to enjoy as much of it as possible. So first looks will allow us to take 90% of our pictures before so we can take a few after the ceremony and join our guest for cocktail hour and mingle and kick off the fun!!!

I like them. I think they give couples the opportunity to have a very special moment without anyone else viewing witnessing it. It gets rid of some of the nerves and is probably the most intimate and raw emotion filled moment of the wedding day that gets captured for all time.

Underrated I suppose although it’s weird to call a first look either one lol. My fiancé and I are doing one so we can enjoy the social hour with our guests and be able to enjoy the day to the fullest!

Overrated? Yes... Like too many wedding trends. However we’re going to do a first look for selfish reasons... simply to knockout the majority of pics beforehand and be able to attend enjoy our cocktail hour. However, we don’t necessarily need our one-on-one intimate moment photographed or videotaped. That’s simply for us. But we aren’t overly traditional. So we don’t want to miss out on the cocktail hour and entertainment that we planned.

I knew from the jump would not be doing a first look. I want him to see me for the first time when I'm walking down the aisle. I AM doing one with my dad though.

Overrated. Save the surprise for when you’re walking down the aisle

I think they're overrated. I really just want the "traditional" feel to it all. I definitely understand the benefit to it but it's just not for me or my FH.

I'm torn on this one. We're undecided if we want to do one. It'll ease the pressure a little bit, a few moments to take it all in and be easier for the timeline of things, but there's something magical about him not seeing me until I walk down the aisle!

I can’t say. We are opting not to do it. My FH wants the fist time he sees me to be when I am waking down the aisle.

So underrated - I've heard nothing but positive things about first looks, and FH and I can't wait to do ours

I think, depending on the couple, that this could be an amazing one on one moment before the hectic day begins! However, my FH is pretty traditional and I love the idea of him first seeing me walk down the aisle, so we will be skipping this.

I think it depends on the couple – I think it's a sweet moment, almost as sweet as seeing them for the first time as you walk down the aisle. But in a way it's more special because it's just you and your fiancé and your photographer. I'm pretty positive we're doing one – we were on the fence but it creates so much more time for photos before the wedding without all the rushing around afterwards and trying to squeeze everything into 1 hour.
