First Look: Overrated or Underrated?

Underrated! Our fav wedding photos. We were relaxed & spent 90 minutes roaming our resort grounds taking pics before our ceremony.

Overrated- it definitely seems to be a popular trend, but I prefer to stay traditional and wait until I walk down the aisle.

Underrated! I LOVE these photos! I cannot wait to do this myself. Capturing that raw emotion is absolutely phenomenal.

Overrated. I don’t think we will be doing a first look. I think it’s a great way to calm nerves and get pics done so you can enjoy the reception and talk to your guests.

My husband and I did first look photos and were very pleased. We got a lot of the photos out of the way before the ceremony which was nice.

Overrated. I think it is a nice idea, but I love the tradition of the first time he sees me being when I walk down the isle.

We haven't done one and I know there's people out there who opt out of doing one. I can't really say for this one. In the back of my mind I want to do one but at the same time I want to completely surprise my FH. I guess we'll see when the time comes.

Overrated, my mother did this but it didn't save her from the hour of posing at the reception, and it only built up the nerves for them. I'm excited to get all my prepping done first then seeing him cry during the ceremony.

Underrated

For me personally, not doing a first look. I want him and everyone else to be shocked!

Although it’s one of the perfect times to take photos, My fiancé and I are not doing a first look. We are, however, doing a prayer photo session. We want to experience our first look with our friends and families.

I convinced my FH that we should do one. Mostly for the practical timeline and photographer hours purposes, but also for wanting to enjoy the party that we're spending all the dollars on purposes. ( Also a little bit because the origin of not seeing each other before the wedding is pretty problematic )

The answer that came to me in the moment that finally convinced him was "there's a lot going on that day already. I feel like I'm going to need to check in with you and take a breath before we go do The Big Thing."

So I'm also going to go with underrated.

I believe they can be both, it's just really based on the couple and their personalities. My FH is anti-first look and I like them (maybe because my dad is a photographer and I love emotional pictures), so we'll see!

Definitely underrated. If we hadn't seen each other until the ceremony, we wouldn't have be able to spend any time together on our wedding day. Since we did a first look, we basically got to spend the whole day together and it was amazing. I really cherish that time that we got to have. The pictures were also wonderful!

I think this is both. It’s a personal choice for the couple. Personally, I want my fiancé to see me for the first time when I walk down the aisle. However, my friend loved this experience at her wedding and the pictures of the reactions are beautiful.

I'm doing that too! When I suggested it to my dad he almost cried, so I can only imagine how the first look will go haha

Underrated. This seems so beautiful. I didn't have this years ago.
