First Look Photos

I felt the same way but my hubby doesnt like to show alot of emotion in front of people so im planning to do the first look to capture his full reaction without any distractions or guests trying to get the photos too and getting in the way plus itll make it so we can enjoy time with our guests and get all the group photos done

Yep. We’re doing a first look. But I feel it’s specific to the couple’s desire. As for us, we don’t have a bridal party. So we may as well knock out our pics and only do the remaining few with our parents/immediate family after the ceremony. That way we aren’t missing out on what really matters.... spending time with our guests and enjoying the night. FH and I plan to join in on our cocktail hour too because we planned and spent money on all the details of our wedding. So we want to partake in all of the fun and entertainment at our wedding and not be held up taking loads of pics that we’ll probably only look at once per year (if that) on our anniversaries.

My fiance and I both discussed it, and we both agree that we would like the first time he sees me in my dress to be when I'm walking down the aisle.. I spoke to my photographer and he said that it really doesn't take that long to do those photos so it's really not that big of a deal to not do a first look..

Mom of a bride here...I have been married for 24 years and back then it was tradition that you didn’t see one another before the walk down the aisle in the church. So many things have changed! I was ready to marry my husband so I did not anticipate being so nervous! My dad was awesome with me but we both had a little panic attack right before the doors opened! I love the first looks and think they are a great idea!! But you do what you want! I am sure your photographer will accommodate your request, either way!

We did a first look. It was one of our favorite parts of the day! You get to have a special moment with just you two. Our first look photos are also some of my favorite.

Logistically, it also helps with photos so you are not taking photos for 1+ hours after your ceremony.

We are doing a first look just to save a lot of time on photos, and to get most of them over with.

At first before wedding planning, I wasn't really feeling it. But after planning out the time line. A first look just seemed right just for logistic reasoning. Definitely didn't ruin walking down the aisle though.

I don't want to do a 1st look but I think we might think about doing a 1st touch which I think is a great way to calm nerves as well and he still won't see me until the actual ceremony.

My daughter and her husband also did private vows prior to the ceremony holding hands on opposite sides of a door. They did not have a first look, although the photographer captured her sneaking a peak at him.

We did them and I'm so happy we did. It doesn't take away from the aisle moment at all. You're going to be pulled in so many different directions that day by your friends and family. The first look gives you two a chance to come together, get those initial jitters out and just have a moment together.
