Hello! Due to COVID, we have had to move our wedding twice. We are now getting married at the end of February. I did not intend on a winter wedding so want to make sure we get the best pictures possible. The sunsets very early in February, so I am thinking the best option may be to do a first look.


My question is - does the first look have to be at the ceremony site? My thought is to do it at our hotel we’re getting ready at because the church doesn’t have a lot of places to take pretty pictures. Just curious everyone’s thoughts on this.

    The first look can be wherever you want it to be! There are no rules. It doesn't have to be at the venue. It can be at a park, the hotel, the ceremony spot, etc. If the hotel has good scenery, I say go for it!

    There's no rules about a first look. Do it wherever you want.

    However you want to do it. Smiley smile I would check with photographer for timing but I would still make it a nice place for the photo op.

    I think it's a great idea to do the first look. We did it for the same reason - to get photos before the sun set. It also meant that all the crazy was done before the ceremony started. As people have said, you can do it anywhere. I recommend choosing somewhere as photogenic as possible! (and as private as possible)
