First night ideas?

Natania, on March 26, 2012 at 7:18 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 16

So my fiance and I have decided to save 200-300 and not get a hotel the night of our wedding. We are going on a week cruise at 6am the following morning. So we are staying at what will be our apartment. Any ideas on how to make it "special"?

Give someone keys to the place so they can tidy up, light candles, put a bottle of champagne out for you, etc. Make it like a honeymoon suite. Consider getting fancy sheets that you can use for "special" occasions.

Why is it so expensive for a hotel room? Do you have a hotel block of rooms for your guests. Usually if you do and they book enough rooms, you get a free wedding night stay or discount. I would look into this.

As far as making it special, ensure you have candles, perhaps some rose petals for the bedroom.

I would NEVER give anyone the keys, knowing my crew there would be kinds of pranks left behind for us! Talk about short sheeting the bed, rice being left in the bed, things stuffed in the toilet so it would overflow or something exploding in our faces! Um no thank you. Keep the keys to yourselves. This is also why I'm making sure I'm the only one who has access to our rings for the entire day, I don't trust my MOH or BM with our rings either.

Decorate your house the way you want and make it special yes.

We are doing the same thing and I'm letting my bridesmaid and MOH decorate it for us with rose petals, some wine, soft music and who knows what else they are planning for us but I told them sweet and romantic

I agree, candles, scarves over bedside lamps, romantic music, a snack for energy and a beverage for thirst and then just the two of you - ooh la la! That's what FH and I are doing!

You are going on a cruise at 6 am the following morning, WOW...are you sure you are going to be able to make it? We were so exhausted after our wedding, we knew not to book anything that soon after the wedding. Most people do take at least one day to relax before going away. Some people need that time to return things like tuxes. But like most said, you can do many things to make it special.

It will automatically be special b/c it's your first night together post wedding. We're also spending our first night at home to save the $$, about $200-300 as well on the hotel room. I have no desire to decorate and all that jazz, I know for sure I will be too exhausted to go around the house lighting things, and then blowing them out. And we're not even leaving at 6am the next day! The plan is to go home, have him carry me over the threshold, do the do, and go to sleep. We already have a few candles next to our bed so maybe I'll light one of those, maybe not. But it'll be special simply b/c it's our wedding night.

I heard most people just sleep the first night due to exhaustion and then "celebrate" the second night

I am not sure what FH and i will do after the ceremony, but that swing idea does sound inviting! Lol! We are leaving for our cruise the next evening, so maybe we will get a nice suite with a hot tub. Hmmmmm..... :-)

We opted to go home after the wedding too. We leave the next day for our HM. I agree with the others when they say we will prob be soooo tired after that long day. If we have any energy left I may light a candle & leave my heels on! But that's about it! hahaha. What?

We just got confirmation yesterday that we have enough booked rooms to get our suite for free. Woo Hoo!!! We are having brunch with our family on Sunday morning and then we will leave on our honeymoon Monday morning.
