First Venue Tour

Oriagna, on March 27, 2021 at 10:13 AM Posted in Planning 1 6
I am going on my first venue tour today both scared and excited. I wanted to know some questions I should ask before picking a date and putting a down payment on the venue.

That's so exciting!! Enjoy the tour! Here are some questions I would recommend asking:

    -What is your postponement/cancellation/COVID policies?

    -What is the deposit amount?

    -What is all included?

-Am I required to use preferred vendors, or can I use whatever vendors I want?

-Do you have any vendors you recommend?

-What extra fees would I be charged?

-Will other weddings/events be held on the same day as mine?

-What is the parking situation like?

-Is there a bridal suite we can use to get ready day of? If so, is there any extra cost to use it? How long would we be able to use it for?

-Do you provide a day of coordinator?

Here is an article with other suggestions of questions to ask as well: https://www.theknot.com/content/amphtml/wedding-venue-site-tour-questions-to-ask

    What’s the breakdown of costs?
    What’s included?
Is there a bridal suite? How long before the wedding can we get in? Does anyone do set up or breakdown of tables and chairs? Are there restrictions for how you can decorate? Do they host more than one wedding in a day? (If catering is included) when can you do a tasting? Does a tasting cost money? When are all payments due? Will someone be on site the day of the wedding to help? When are final numbers needed?

Hi Oriagna! I would ask if they host multiple events on the same day or if your wedding is the only event once you choose a date. Which dates they currently have available. Do they provide setup and tear down. Minimum cost you have to spend. Maximum capacity. If they have a preferred vendor list they can provide to you. Have fun and good luck!! ❤️

How exciting! Enjoy the process 😊 everyone has had create questions to ask. I would add
-What time will vendors be allowed on the property the day of to start set up?
-What times do you have the property for?-Do you get a rehearsal and/or use of the property for planning meetings?
    Good luck and enjoy!

These are great suggestions! Same list as above, but I also asked my tour guides to walk me through the venue from the start as if I were a guest. It helped me get a good feel of the guest experience (so they would show me where guests would enter, how they would get to ceremony, then cocktail, then reception)

Honestly, don't get held up on asking all the questions during the tour. I would bring a notebook and take notes and pictures of important things, you can ALWAYS call or email the next day to ask detailed questions about cost breakdowns and such. Try to be in the moment and get a feel for the place!

As one other thread pointed out, if you are doing video streaming of your wedding you may also want to test their wifi connection while visiting!

I am also doing my first venue tour soon and the questions I have come up with are mostly the same as what is above.
