Start with the big things and work down to the small things. Start by talking with your fiancé about what major ideas such as the venue, number of guests, budget etc. Budget is the biggest one as that will determine how much you can spend on everything. Once you figure those out, look for venues in your area that meet your vision, that are in your budget, and can hold at least the number of people you plan to invite. I recommend looking at multiple options, as this will allow you to compare prices and what not. Once you book your venue, start looking up any vendors you'd like (photographer, DJ, etc), and start meeting with them. I would recommend getting a separate email address just for the wedding.

Also, look into the checklist and budgeting tools on Wedding Wire and The Know. Those will help keep your planning on track, and help you manage your wedding budget. Throughout the process, you can always ask questions on this forum.

My final piece of advice is to not rush into anything. Make sure to make time for yourself. Wedding planning can be super stressful and don't feel like you need to jump into it immediately.

Oh yes. Some weddings have a general color scheme for the entire thing, like mine was burgundy like below here. All my bridesmaids wore burgundy dresses, there were burgundy flowers, stuff like that. Not every wedding necessarily needs a theme or color but most brides do it. It is all based on what you want your wedding to look like.

That might actually be a good thing! It means you can go in fresh with your own ideas without constantly comparing your wedding to someone else's. Do you have your date set? I would start with your date as an idea for colors and themes. I would also keep an eye and ear out for wedding expos in your area. I'm sure there are COVID restrictions, but those are still a good place to meet potential vendors. Even if you don't sign anyone on the spot, it's a great way to at least get ideas for budget, themes, etc. Then of course, keep coming back here to Wedding Wire for more ideas. You can get some here on the forums, and you can do searches. Good luck!

The first big decisions are: 1) set a budget with your partner, 2) estimate your guest list, 3) choose a venue. If no colors are jumping out to you yet, wait until you choose a venue. Unless it’s all white, you can see what colors would work well there.
