fist fighting at a wedding...really? (VENT)

Chelsea, on January 10, 2012 at 9:24 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 19

Ok so heres my vent FH's cousin, who is his best man, is having problems in his marriage. His wife cheated with like 7 guys and so they split, sort of. Now hes seeing a new women and his really happy. Sounds good right? Well not according to FH's aunt. My FMIL told me that FH's aunt thinks his cousin should make it work with his wife and wants to beat up his girlfriend. She also told me that when she handed his aunt the invite to our wedding she started inviting her friends. That way if her son brings his girlfriend instead of his wife she can fight the girl and have back up......REALLY! This is so stupid, those people are not invited and will not be allowed in and if she tries to start a fight she will be kicked out. I dont care who he brings as his date, there will be NO fighting! What do they think this is? WWE! NO ITS A FREAKING WEDDING! ok vent done!

    She sounds klassy. Smiley smile

Do you know who the guy is bringing? If you know for sure that he's bringing the new girlfriend, you can maybe take some steps like seating them far apart, and having other family members run interference so krazy klassy Aunt can't get near her.

Great idea Kris..... I was going to say have someone (close friend but not in wedding) have their eyes out for anything. If so, they take care of it and you find out at your 1 year anniversary!

So sorry that you have to deal with this :-(

Well, all I can say is:

If this is normal behavior on his family, or yours, RUN! Seriously.

I would seriously just tell the Aunt not to even bother coming to the wedding if she is planning on starting fights.. that is just crazy!!! that is YOUR DAY/YOUR WEDDING, not like you said WWE!!!! that is just serious trashy talk & just something you would see on TV>.. & umm if she does starts something, I would seriously get her 1 kicked out.. 2 get her arrested... BUT if I was you, I would really tell FH to tell her not to come to the wedding, that she is not invited anymore... You really do not need that drama on your day... you will be thinking about it the whole time if she will try to start anything.... GOOD LUCK!!!! & Congratulations.. the 14th is almost here

Wow that's some serious drama lol but i totally think you're right though and agree with you and if anyone bothers you on your wedding day you have the total right to kick them out!!! no matter who they are!!! stay strong and if anything just uninvite the aunt or have a conversation with her about this whole ordeal, it's really none of her business either way

I'd tell the aunt to stop it! She's a grown woman and needs to act like it. Also, your wedding is not a party and she does not get to bring her own guests.

However, I would politely ask your cousin to not bring his new girlfriend. It's nothing against her personally, but it will cause drama amongst your guests. Many may not know he is getting a divorce, etc. He needs to come alone.

Sounds like hiring security, and making sure cousin and his mother are at seperate tables, is in order.

Kimi K, who owns the picture you posted, can I use it in a short video blog about issues that can arise at weddings?
