Fixing a torn veil

SoontobeMrs.2017, on February 7, 2017 at 2:05 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10

Does anyone know how to fix a torn veil? There is a small triangle shaped tear in my veil and I would like to be able to fix it if at all.

Sorry here it is. Not the greatest pic but you can see the tear and it's on both sides

I'm curious too. I have a huge tear just like that in my skirt, was wondering if it's worth trying to fix. (huge = CD case size)

I would take it to a bridal shop and ask the seamstress if it is doable.

How about trying really thin fishing wire. If you don't like the way it looks you can always take the fishing wire out and seek other options.

You have...two options. Hand stitch it with clear thread or add something like an appliqué to it to cover it up. You will probably have to add multiple appliqués to make it look like it was on purpose. I teach high school sewing and quite often tell the kids to turn their mistakes into something beautiful!! Good luck!!

You will need a thin needle and fine thread. Thread the needle so there is only one strand of thread and carefully tie the end of the thread around one of the netting loops. Using a whip stitch, go through netting loops on both sides of the tear, making sure NOT to pull too taut, and sew all the way around the torn portion. Tie off the same way as you tied on!

Or go to a seamstress, they'll probably do a much better job than you can Smiley smile
