Flatware. How much?

Sara, on March 8, 2018 at 6:20 PM Posted in Registry 0 6

My fiance and I recently started registering and are amazed at the price difference between different sets. 5 piece for $50 to 65 piece for $80 dollars. Originally we both loved the scoop set at Crate and Barrel but for 12 place settings it gets pretty expensive. Bed Bath and Beyond have some much more affordable options that seem to be of equal quality. I don't want to seem greedy or ask people to spend to much money when I am a thrifty person myself. We are registered at Bed Bath and Beyond, Crate and Barrel, and Amazon. Does anyone have any advice on flatware? Is the more expensive stuff worth it? What did you register for? I never thought I would put this much thought into silverware! Everything seems so overwhelming!

Some pieces are lighter, so they're cheaper because it's less metal.

There are pluses and minuses. Get what you like. I have a set of very good heavy silverware and a set for everyday use that was less expensive.

We registered for the scoop set at Crate & Barrel. It’s $39.95 for a 5 piece set and we registered for 12 settings. I think most people know flatware can be expensive. The point of a wedding registry is to get things that will last you a long time! You will be surprised on what people will buy and a lot of people will go in on group gifts. I say register for quality flatware that you want rather than trying to find the cheapest option. This will be the only time in your life you can tell people exactly what you want for gifts and remember whatever isn’t bought you can always buy yourself afterwards with completion discounts.

I will say FMIL gave us money for silverware when we bought a house. I bought a full set for something like $80. After 2 Years I absolutely hate them. We registered for new stuff. $65 for one setting with 5 pieces. We already have two and I LOOOOVE them. I hope more people just give us one or two at a time and we soon have them all. My vote is worth it. Both sets from Macy’s.

Yup! It was one of the first things bought off our registry. My husband’s grandparents bought us all 12 sets. It’s amazing quality and I’m so glad we registered for it. One of my friends registered for silverware from Target for her wedding because she was worried about what guests could afford and didn’t want to register for something too expensive . A year later she’s already replacing it.
