Flights for out of town guests

Megan, on June 11, 2017 at 10:47 AM Posted in Planning 16 12

Do we purchase these or the guests? Do we pay for the hotel? I am not sure what the correct thing to do is.

People pay for their own flights and hotels.

Although if you're offering to cover those things, FH and are lovely wedding guests who give great gifts and love free holidays.

They're capable of making they're own travel arrangements. You certainly don't need to pay for it.

You can reserve a block of hotel rooms at a specific hotel or two near your venue so it's easier for them to book.

They do. You can block hotel rooms if you want (for a preferred rate) but it's on them.

You definitely aren't expected to pay for those things! If you have a lot of OOT guests, you can reserve hotel room blocks nearby, which usually means they'll get a slightly lower rate and if you can afford to provide transportation, everyone is in one place. We also put airport information on our wedding website since we were exactly halfway between two major airports.

We're only covering those things for the one friend who will be a friendor and his boyfriend. (I know the opinion of friendors here, we're proceeding with care and we have a backup plan) For everyone else we will try to have a hotel block where they can get discounted rooms, but I'm honestly not sure we have enough oot guests.

Ok makes perfect sense! We are paying for the flight of my biological dad who is handicapped and coming from Canada for the wedding. But I do have a few OOT guests and was getting worried about if I have to pay or not. I thought it may be time to sell a kidney. We are doing a hotel block. I have a vendor coming about 4 hours and we are putting him up in the same hotel as the block. I was just really unsure if the hotel is covered by us for the guests or not. Thank you Smiley smile

People pay for their own but if there is a common airline for everyone you can get a discount from the airline if at least 10 people buy a ticket. That's what I did and my guests saved 15%

People will pay for it themselves. Only thing to do is get a room block at a hotel near your venue. Room blocks usually cost nothing to you, and out of town guests get a discount. For our wedding, out of town guests are staying at a Marriott for about $50 off per night!
