Flip flops for my wedding guests?

Rachelcw78, on July 5, 2021 at 1:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
My wedding is in the middle of summer 2022 on the beach and I thought it would be a cute idea to provide flip flops for my guests for the sand or just if their feet get tired from dancing during the reception. My guest list is about 160 right now and I'm not sure how many pairs I should get. I'm assuming not everyone will use them and some may bring their own flip flops and I don't want a ton left over that I can't return. Flip flops for my wedding guests? 1

I feel like people will dress for the occasion, I wouldn't provide flip flops although its a nice gesture.

I think it’s a cute idea but if it’s actually on the beach, in the sand, I think most would opt to be barefoot towards the end of the night or will wear appropriate shoes for a beach wedding. If you do buy them and have unused pairs, you can donate them!

The consensus from past posts is that the majority are not fans because they are near impossible to dance in . The grip on the bottom stays in one place and your foot goes the opposite direction. It was mentioned that the folding ballet slippers have the same grip at 10x the cost.

If guests ditch the heels, they prefer to go barefoot.

If it’s actually in the beach, I’d just go barefoot after the ceremony once the dancing started. I wouldn’t want flip flops. So I personally think you should save your money. Make sure your wedding website mentions it a beach location and everyone will dress for the occasion!

I’d save your $$. I’ve seen this same topic & the couple had a ton of leftover shoes. People will dress accordingly. If I was going to attend a beach wedding, I’d already be bringing/wearing appropriate beach shoes.

I agree with everyone else. It's a super cute idea but I don't know it would be useful.

I always wonder as well, how many sizes do you provide? All one? I'm always so confused how people who choose this favour actually manage the logistics!

I like the idea too, but I would probably skip them. As a guest, I'd prefer to go barefoot towards the end of the night if it's ON the beach. Guests will know to wear the appropriate footwear, so I wouldn't provide them and trust they know what to wear!

I think this is a cute idea in theory but probably a waste of money. whenever I attend a wedding, I wear appropriate and comfortable shoes to start with. I find it extremely rude to take off my shoes, and therefore I only wear shoes I know I can dance in. if you mention the wedding is on the beach, your guests will plan accordingly.
