Florals: Real vs Fake

Okay ya'll, tell me what you deem "acceptable" when it comes to using real vs fake florals/flowers! What can you get away with being fake? What do you deem the most important for using real foliage? Do guests notice those things anyways? Or are they just good for photos? Give me all the opinions!!...

(Just so you know, I am in love with all the natural florals/greenery. So I don't plan on there being too many flowers involved anyways.)

ETA: I'm on my 4th (shhh don't tell) Redd's Raspberry Ale and highly recommend it for you ladies that love something sweet/tart that's still kind of beer but not wine (LOL)!

I did fake bouqets & boutineers. We had a destination wedding, so it was nice not having to worry of they were wilting & the bridal party along with our moms & grandmas got to keep them. Moms & grandmas had bouquets instead of crosages

So, I used dried flowers and it drastically cut my cost. Technically, they're "real" flowers because they were once alive, but they're also dead. One of the reasons I chose them was because they can be stored before the wedding in a dark cold place up to six months (so a plastic bin in a basement) and they don't have to be put in any water.. I will be using live baby's breath at the wedding for the centerpieces and aisle runners. Just a thought to consider, especially if you're worried about cost. Smiley smile

Any actual flowers you want spend the money on, you can easily get away with fake greenery in your bouquet mixed with the real flowers. If they look realistic and classy fake is totally ok in my opinion. I'm never truly bothered if someone uses fake flowers as long as you have amazing food or an amazing DJ Smiley winking you can skimp on real flowers if you make up for it somewhere else

I have serious allergies so it wasn't even an option for us to go with real flowers. It really just depends on what you like. There will always be nay sayers. You can't please everyone.

FH said people will touch our flowers to see if they are real, so we have to get real flowers.

I'm on team real except for thing no one will get near like the altar displays (which are very often reused on the tables now....) Realistic fake flowers cost as much as real ones, cheap ones look awful.

They are as much a part of the experience as the music (which will stop), the food (which will be eaten) or any other fleeting element of the day (and they can be repurposed to nursing homes, etc....)

I think do whay you want. My venue is inclusive and has fake flowers for table centerpieces. Yes, I can spend more to have real ones, but why? I'd rather spend that money to upgrade the food or offer more alcohol selections to my guests. My bouquets will be real because the venue partners with a local florist and I get a substantial credit if I have them make my bouquets. I have considered a sola bouquet for myself, though. A friend recently married and created a beautiful shadow box with wedding pictures and her sola wood flowers.

I'm having a garden wedding so my bouquet, bridesmaid bouquets, boutinneres, and reception centerpieces will be real, but were using silk flowers for everything else - including my flower crown. I wanted something I could keep, so I had my crown made of silks to keep. There's wooden flowers too! So many options. Some of the silks/wooden flowers look so real, it's hard to tell.

Quality fake flowers typically cost about as much as real. So they tend to get chosen because someone wants to DIY, and doesn't want to have to do it at the last moment. Or someone wants to keep the bouquet and show it off at home afterward. Or someone is allergic to real flowers.

We went with real. They got delivered to the synagogue a couple of hours before the wedding. One bouquet was given to the staff of the synagogue, the other to the only guest who was local to the area. We really didn't want a fake bouquet sitting around being one more dust catcher at our house afterward.

Believe it or not I did fake floral with real greens. Not one person knew the difference. Sorry this is the only photo I can find right now.

I'm doing a mix of fake and real. My bouquet will be fake because I want to keep it after the wedding day. It's kind of a tradition I'd like to continue, as my FMI did the same. My bridesmaid flowers are real, centerpieces on table, real. Flower girl petals are fake. I'm going back and forth on real or fake for ceremony alter area. Because they won't be touched.

I am doing both. I'm keeping the real one & throwing the fake one to the single ladies.

I definitely would choose the permanent botanicals "fake"
The absolute best ones are from Pentrenz www.pentrenz.com These not only look real, but they smell real as well!

Flowers aren't a huge priority on my list. In fact, the venue that I'm booking now really is so beautiful and well set up in itself that I'm only doing a few pops of flowers on tables and getting vines/greenery. And I agree, fake, real-touch flowers can be just as expensive as regular ones. What I like about doing fake, is that some florists DO require a minimum purchase amount per flower stem/vine/bunch, and I didn't want a lot. On top of that, I do have terrible allergies myself, and I wanted to be able to KEEP my bouquet.
