There are many people who have made their own bouquets or used silk or wooden flowers! I've seen a lot of beautiful pictures on these forums from people who made their own. If that's the route you want to go, I say go for it!

I do suggest that you start working on them sooner rather than later, just to give yourself plenty of time in case of anything that goes wrong and/or time to really perfect them. Have fun, and share pictures of your DIY flowers once you complete them, I'd love to see how they turn out!

I am getting married in NYC. Florists costs are exorbitant here. To cut costs on florals and increase our spend on guest experience (Food, alcohol, DJ), I am DIYing flowers as well. There are so many excellent inspiration posts on Pinterest. To start, I am ordering small quantities flowers on Amazon (because of great return policy) to see which flowers I think look the most realistic and fit my overall wedding look. So far I think Ling’s Moments has the best flowers for my look. You’ve got this!

Highly recommend you look into Ling's Moments! I ordered a sample out of curiosity and they look so real. They are foam, but by just looking at them you would have no idea

While I did real flowers, there are plenty of brides on this forum who have done fake ones! I would recommend doing real flowers for your own bridal bouquet (because let's face it, that bouquet will be in the majority of your formal photos), but there's nothing wrong with doing fake florals for everything else. If you're looking to cut costs, then I would probably do real for your own bouquet and silk flowers for everything else.

I’m doing a mixture of both. Our venue has an all inclusive package & with that we get $400 for flowers. I’m using real flowers for my bouquet, the centerpiece for the sweetheart table & the cake. I bought fake from Hobby Lobby for my bridesmaids that I’m going to assemble myself. I also bought a bouquet from Hobby Lobby for my bouquet toss. Plan on ordering wrist corsages from Amazon for my stepmom & FMIL.

I don’t see anything wrong with having artificial flowers. I did that for all my bouquets and corsages

There's nothing wrong with using artificial flowers and there are a lot of upsides. They don't wilt and die, they are often less expensive than real, it doesn't matter what season you are in. I'm not doing a lot of flowers, but what I have are fake!! Lots of them look real nowadays.

If I had a local wedding I would def use artificial flowers (Lings moments in particular). I just don't see the need to spend thousands on flowers that would die in a few days. My wedding is in Mexico and Im still trying to buy artificial lol.

I agree with Hanna. I would recommend doing real for your own bouquet and silk for the rest. You will get the best of both worlds that way: gorgeous bouquet for your photos while saving thousands of dollars for the rest.

If you want silk flowers then you should have silk flowers! If you plan on DIY on the silk flowers you could probably do the same with real flowers as well so you don't have to deal with a florist making them.

I loved having artificial flowers! I was able to make my bouquets, centerpieces, and hair piece, the way I want! It was very inexpensive. I recommend it if you want artificial.

I have a groom, a bridesmaid (also my sister), a niece, a nephew, an uncle, a cousin, and a grandfather who are all severely allergic to real flowers. My sister comes home Ill from every wedding that has real flowers because people don’t think about how it might affect their guests. Real flowers didn’t even cross my mind because of this, so I say, “Eff all the people who crap on fake flowers”. Plus their cheaper and you’re not limited in type because of the time of year.

You should do whatever you want! I've been told real flowers but guess what? This is NOT their wedding and they are NOT paying so.... whatever they suggest is simply just that. A suggestion. I'm doing all of the flowers myself.

I'm using a mix of fresh and dried because I'm getting married in a botanical garden, so artificial flowers would stand out a little bit with all the flowers already surrounding us. However, if I were not, I'd definitely be hitting up JoAnn Fabrics and Hobby Lobby for some artificial ones!

Do what makes you happy and makes your wedding budget work. There no need in going over your budget for flowers that will die. That might be a little aggressive, but.....
