Florida Destination Bachelorette, help me decide!

Claire, on November 3, 2016 at 11:02 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 23

Ok so I posted the other day but someone suggested I post during the day to get more feedback. My bridesmaids and I have decided we'd like to go to Florida for my bachelorette (2nd wknd in March). Looking for your lovely opinions and advice on where in Florida to go! We were thinking Fort Lauderdale or West Palm Beach? Maybe even Delray Beach? Open to other suggestions as well Smiley smile

We are all in our mid to late twenties, just looking to enjoy some warmer weather compared to up north and have some drinks! I'm not a huge club person but I do like to dance a little when I'm out, just not in a club. Thank you in advance for any advice and Happy Thursday everyone!!

March is one of the busiest months of the year here since it is Spring break for pretty much everyone in the US. Ft Lauderdale, and WPB are OK places to go, and you can always go to Miami for a day or 2 if you want, but it will be very crowded. I'd also like to throw out Clearwater/St Pete. It will also be really busy, but we have a ton of micro breweries and are a foodies paradise if you are into that kind of stuff. We also have a really good club scene in Downtown St Pete and Tampa if you want to go out one night.

@OG Brittany Thank you for the advice! I know it is a little crazy because it's right around the time of spring break. With Clearwater I just worry if it will be warm enough to be on the beach. I have family in the Tampa/Clearwater/St Pete area, so I've been there a lot over the years. Just wanted to branch out a little and try somewhere new in Florida!

Claire - Oh Gotcha! Should be plenty warm for the beach by then to be honest. Also consider, the waters in the Atlantic stay colder much longer than the Gulf of Mexico. Ft Lauderdale is nice though, and super close to Miami for a day trip!

I have no advice, but maybe add "Florida" to the title - It may trigger some other folks to open this and help you out.

Clearwater/Tampa, Pensacola and Destin are two of my favorite places (not sure how cold it will be in March), Miami, Ft, Lauderdale, Orlando is actually super fun with lots to do other than Disney

Key West! Everybody I know who has gone comes back saying that it's been their favorite vacation. I'm not sure how crowded it is around spring break time but I wouldn't think it would be too crazy crowded. It's a very unique place

@OGBrittany thanks for the advice! We will have to look into doing a day trip to Miami, I'm sure the girls would love that.

@FreshToDeathAng thanks for the advice again Smiley smile . Sorry I read the forums every so often but don't know the general rules of thumb about posting.

@Laine I'll have to look into Destin and Pensacola, I've never been!

I actually just moved to Boca Feb this year. It was colder (by FL standards) late Feb this year, but it was definitely warmer in March and I spent time at the beach on the weekends! Water is cold then (70s) but if you're from somewhere where that's as warm as the after gets in the summer (From CT orig) it feels great! If JetBlue flies near you, you may be able to score a cheap flight too! FLL is the best airport and there's tons of awesome places in Delray (more laid back then Lauderdale) and west palm is fantastic! If you gals decide to come down and have more questions let me know. I'd be happy to email with ya! Good luck!

I went to Florida for a Bach party in March and it snowed like crazy in MD the night before. I would suggest Ft Lauderdale for sure. We stayed in between Ft Lauderdale and Miami and it was a horrible location (per the request of the bride's awful mother) and I so wished we stayed closer to Ft Lauderdale. My fiance was in Ft Lauderdale the same weekend I was in florida and he had a blast.

Any of those places are great. I live in Florida and I really love St Augustine. It's quirky and has some really cool bars and taverns. And it's haunted. Wwwooooooaaaawwwwww

I am born and raised in Fort Lauderdale. March is Spring Break and definitely gets crowded during that time of year. Not to mention hotels get more expensive. I would stay away from Miami, especially if you aren't into clubbing and stuff like that. It can get a little dangerous and really not worth how expensive things can be. The beaches are nice though, so like someone else mentioned you can totally go there for a day if you would like. Honestly if you decide to stay in Ft. Lauderdale you will be close enough to Boca/West Palm, Delray and Miami. Delray and West Palm is more laid back, but there is plenty of stuff to do no matter which part you decide to stay!

I was born and riased in Florida, and I also don't like clubbing. There are the beaches, but honestly clubbing. And drinking is just simply the kind of scene there. Maybe stick with Palm Beach? Or you could stay at Margaritaville on Hollywood beach (which is essentially Ft. Lauderdale).

I was actually planning to do the same and when my wedding will take place, we would also be going in March Smiley smile Coinky-dink Smiley winking

I was planning to go to Miami. There's this day spa that overlooks the water and is just totally relaxing and inviting. Then at night, hey you're in Miami. I totally recommend Tampa or clearwater. I went there on vacation two years ago and it was so nice and the stuff to do was great!

Due to the fact that it will be spring break time.. I would go to the more *non-touristy* places. I live in Melbourne (which is mainland east coast) and my favorite spots are Cocoa Nuts on the Beach (which is located in Cocoa Beach) great place ! They have a bar/restaurant on the beach where you can rent chairs and umbrellas. It's right next to TONS of options in the ways of hotels, food, bars, spas. AND it isn't a touristy spot! Mostly locals. Merritt island, Melbourne, cocoa beach are the best places to go during March.

This is my opinion. I am a local. If you choose WPB, Daytona, Miami. It will be PACKED! AND OVERPRICED!

    Good luck
