Florist Cost

Emmob, on June 28, 2021 at 9:28 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 9

HI 2021 Brides! Quick question – I am 3 weeks away from our wedding and we just finalized with the florist today. She had already charged me a set up/delivery fee ($350) which we paid for. But, today she said she will be charging us a pick up fee ($250) for the vases. Is this normal? She never mentioned anything prior to this and we booked her 6 months ago. Thanks Brides!

Is that cost included in your contract?

Generally any florist that is setting up your wedding will charge a set up and pack down fee in addition to delivery. This cost generally covers the labour involved plus any travel.

This is pretty standard though I would double check your original invoice to see if it was noted.

This is what her rental agreement says and nothing on pick up fee.

All rentals require an additional refundable security deposit. This deposit is not included in your total. All rentals are to be returned by 10:00 a.m. the next business day or an additional days rental will be charged. Security deposit will be refunded upon return of equipment on time and in good condition. Dripless candles are to be emptied, cleaned and repacked, wax is to be removed from candelabras, etc.

    ****all vases

Our florist wasn't going to charge us if we had someone return them the next day. We decided to buy the vases ourselves at the Dollar Store and gave them to the florist before the wedding and it saved a lot of money. That way we didn't have to return anything.

Yeah, we thought of doing that as well but her design needs a certain vase. It was never mentioned before and I thought the delivery/set up fee was included. Great way to save money!

Again, it looks like if you expect someone from florist to pick up rentals/vases, there is a fee. Otherwise, not if you have them returned by 10:00 am.

Understood – contract should mention pick up fee or mentioned in the conversation through our multiple calls/face times. Just a question.

I haven't gotten an estimate yet, but for this reason I'm buying my own centerpieces to just be decorated by her. She won't have anything of her own to pick up.

The contract does not mention a pick up fee because it gave parameters for the return (and assumption that you (or someone) would drop them off based on the language provided). Unfortunately, it is not unusual to have a separate pick up fee (that is not a part of drop off or set up). To avoid this fee, perhaps you can get a family member or friend to agree to drop off the vases by the deadline.
