Florist costs?

Tiffany, on October 11, 2019 at 11:13 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 31

I just received the quote from our florist. It's $1,220. We are not doing too much with reception flowers, just a lot of bulk ordered eucalyptus. My bouquet is under $200 which I don't think is bad. The bulk of the cost seems to come from the large amount of greenery. Is this price fair?

It's hard to tell without knowing exactly what's on your quote, but eucalyptus definitely isn't cheap.

I live near the Amish and they're doing all of our flowers for about $600 (center pieces, bridal bouquet, toss bouquet, 6 bridesmaids, 13 bouts, and 5 corsages, along with wedding church flowers). It has been a blessing to be able to have them do our flowers so reasonably.

This is more of what I hoping to stay at, around $800 at the most. We might have to lessen the bunches of eucalyptus, but I don't want the centerpieces and head table to look too bare.

I think that’s a little much to be honest. But I haven’t done my flowers yet.

Sounds about right to me. Eucalyptus is very trendy right no way which means it's going to be more expensive.

    Sounds about right.
Ask about mixing the euc with some Italian ruscus instead- might bring costs down and it's gorgeous.

I think this varies so much by where you are located, the specifics of your order, and from vendor to vendor. Daughter's total floral order (e.g., her bouquet, 5 BM & 2 FG bouquets, 11 boutonnieres, 2 corsages, 2 long-stemmed roses for mother's, a large altar piece which was re-purposed for the Sweetheart table centerpiece, 13 floral centerpieces, 4 small centerpieces for cocktail tables, petals to line the aisle and pew flowers) was about $1800, delivered & set-up, in So Cal (high COL). However, daughter comparison shopped like crazy and her next lowest bid was $1000 higher, for fewer arrangements that weren't nearly as nice. If you have the option, I might try shopping around, or talk with your florist about ways to achieve the look you're hoping for at a lower cost. They might be able to recommend flower/greenery substitutions that are less expensive. Good luck!

I am using eucalyptus as well BUT we are foraging for it. My niece is a florist and she said she doesn’t pay for greenery if she doesn’t have to. Ask if there is any way you can get it yourself and just have them make the arrangements... if that’s even possible for you.

I think that sounds reasonable. We paid around $2,500 for wedding party flowers & greenery runners & centerpieces, then another $1,500 for delivery & set up & clean up and some other floral decor my mom wanted. Greenery is expensive.

I was under the impression from multiple sources that greenery can be more affordable. Everything is turning out to be more than I anticipated so far in wedding planning. I guess that's just how it is! lol

At least you got a real quote.. I contacted a florist with my location and how small our party was and suddenly I get a random $2500 quote. She quoted me on a venue that’s near mine and I feel like she saw dollar signs dancing in front of her.

That's crazy! I had a sit down meeting with the florist, they wrote down what I had in mind and then put together a detailed list with the prices broken down. I was very impressed with their services. They definitely seem like they are worth the money which makes me feel better.

I spent around 4,500 for flowers including set up. 90% of mine were greenery. 12 tables with a Additional long bridal party table, a garland at ceremony rafter, garland on my bride groom table, 7 boutinerres, 10 all greenery bridemaids, big greenery and some flowers for me, two flower girl greenery crowns, and a dog collar made of greenery

I think greenery compared to things like roses are cheaper, but in general flowers are just expensive!

I’m ordering my flowers from Sam’s Club. They are very reasonable. I’m paying under $600 for 13 centerpieces, 2 corsages, 3 boutonnières, my bouquet and 2 bridesmaids bouquets

Where do you live? If eucalyptus is something your florist needs to get sent in, the price will go up! I live in Seattle and wanted eucalyptus, but it would be so expensive, so I am going to go trecking out in the wood to cut salal with my mom instead! SO much cheaper. Look for native plants that might grow around you, this will make it way more cost effective!

Florist are not cheap! My florist made my bouquet, All the bouts ( 5) 2 corsages and 2 bridesmaid bouquets and it was $400.00 For my centerpieces I went to a local farm and walked through the fields and picked flowers I had ( 16 centerpieces) Total from farm was $158.00. A lot of times local farms can make your bouquets for cheap.
