Florist -% Labor Fee

Brittany, on July 8, 2017 at 10:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

Had a florist consultation today where the labor fee was 25%, on top of the delivery and labor fee. Is this the standard going rate for florists?

Just trying to get an idea for comparison.

Wow that's a lot. Here in CA I don't believe I saw that from my vendor.

I just double checked our contract with our florist and we were just charged a delivery/set up and break down fee, which I'm assuming is basically a labor fee, which amounted to about 18% of our total. We were also charge sales tax, but no other additional charge.

Yes this is my third company and I love them the most. The other company did not charge anything like a delivery fee/labor, but their flower markup was vastly higher.

Are they setting up, flipping rooms and breaking down? Maybe that's what there labor fee covers.

Wow, that seems insanely expensive. I'm in Vermont and my flowers, bouquets, etc. were just over 1K.

I have a $200 delivery fee. But I'm assuming the labor is built into the prices of the pieces. So it balances out.

Mine was $2300. The price depends on the flowers you want, if the flowers are in-season, the style of the arrange, etc. I also have a delivery, set up & breakdown fee of $195, but it's included in the total. I would definitely shop around before making a final decision.

I have a $450 delivery and set up fee in Long Island with just $1500 in flowers, mostly bouquets. I think it's high so trying to negotiate. Her flower costs are very good but this fee seems really high.

$828 for what? $332 to delivery which is expensive plus $3,000 for flowers they probably paid $300 for wholesale. They already got their fee with the markup of the arrangements and padding the delivery charges. Soon as I saw that add’l $828. I would be cancelling. The OP is from last year, I wonder if she went through with it?

I had the same experience with ”A Garden Party” in Elmer, NJ (contract looks the same). I went with a different florist once I realized how padded the price was.

Are the actual bouquet costs low? Typically floral rates are around wholesale flower cost x 2.5 (because processing time and lost product) + labor. 25% would be a very reasonable rate for most arrangements. Bouquets and corsages typically have highter labor costs because they take more labor. Most designers don't break this number down for thier clients but its possible your florist is actually being really open about her pricing.

Sadly, no one is paying attention to the contract where it specifically states labor is typically worked into the flower cost. This is 100% accurate. You may think the labor charge here is high, but I bet her cost per arrangement is pretty low.
