Flower Alternatives

Destiera, on May 30, 2019 at 6:39 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13
I currently am in a dilemma because I don’t know if I want the bridesmaids to have real flowers like my bouquet and the decor. I thought of the idea of using paper pages (literature elements within theme) and making flowers out of those OR having them hold books as they walk down. What do you think is the best idea? If you have any other ideas, drop them please!

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Destiera Smiley smile

I love the book page flower bouquet ideas! Especially if your wedding has a literature twist in the theme, this could look awesome.

Lanterns are also a great idea and would fit in with your rustic style/theme!

What about a bridesmaids wreath? You could just use greenery and no flowers? or add a small number of flowers.

My theme is rustic and we live in West Texas where we grow cotton. TONS of cotton. My FH used to work on a farm and my grandpa is a farmer. So I chose to add cotton to my theme and I bought two cotton bouquets for my MOH and Bridesmaid. I dressed it up with lace and navy ribbon. BUT OMG they are the cutest. If we didn't go that route we would have did corsages

People are so creative. i honestly went super traditional with my whole wedding so i am always amazed at people's alternative ideas because it shows a lot of ingenuity. i like your idea about the book pages, because i'm a voracious reader myself.

i've seen articles of people holding funky bouquets made of food or balloons or whatever they think is cute.

I really wanted to have tulips since they’re my mom’s favorite flowers! And, I’m not a big rose fan either. 😓

I love your idea of the paper flowers out of book pages. We're doing something similar with our wedding, it's a travel theme, using maps to make paper flowers for our centerpieces. I think you could do the paper flowers and then add pops of color with the ribbon/lace that binds them together. Good luck, I'm sure you'll find the perfect fit.

Do you know any like videos or tutorials on how to make pretty paper flowers? I think that’s another issue I’m having since I’m DIYing most of my wedding myself.

    Try some of these.

If you have a Circuit or Silhouette machine (of a friend that does) those really help speed up the process and help to make all your cuts even.
