Flower Boy?

Carrie , on February 26, 2014 at 8:53 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9

Our little boy emphatically declined being a ring bearer and announced he's throwing flowers. Ok then. Any suggestions for baskets? Everything I see looks so girly. His cousin, a girl, is also throwing flowers. We are all hoping the petals don't get dumped in a pile and the containers end up on their heads as hats.

I'm not sure what your theme is, but if by chance it's country, you could use a cowboy hat. A friend gave her flower girls little stick horses and put the flower petals in pink cowgirl hats!

It's rustic but not country. My mother is already worried sick over how rustic we are going so cowboy hats would push her over the edge. Smiley smile That might be ok then. LOL

Do you guys have a sports team you love? Maybe you could have him toss petals out of a baseball cap? My mom has made flower arrangements where she puts a plastic bowl in a baseball cap to make it so it can hold it a vase. Maybe that would work?

The other thing I could think of would be just a plan wicker basket, but again maybe you could find a ribbon or something to dress it up a little without it being over the top girly.

P.S. I think this is awesome! I'd rather have my nephew toss flowers, he'd probably enjoy it a lot more than walking with a pillow.

If it's rustic, what about a metal pail? Like a gardening pail?

What about a metal bucket? You could wrap ribbon around it.

That's so cute! I think a regular, neutral-colored wicker basket would work OK.

You folks are so smart! Smiley smile I like all the ideas but we aren't really sports fans and we have a lot of baskets/brown/burlap already happening so the pail idea wins! He's a big fan of things that hold other things so I'll bribe him with a promise he gets to keep the bucket if he does a good job. A little few ribbons would dress it up without being over the top. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. Thanks again.

Instead of a ribbon, how about tying a bandana to the handle of the bucket?
