Flower Girl alternatives?

Emily, on February 21, 2021 at 12:57 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4

Hi everyone,

We were set to get married August 2020 and originally not going to have any flower girls/ ring bearers. However, the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to include my nieces/ nephews. However, my FH and I are not super into the traditional flower girl/ ring bearer theme since the kids are a bit older. We decided to make the 2 boys (10 yo) to be ushers but I also have a 6 and 8 year old niece. Does anyone have any ideas for alternatives to traditional flower girls? I want to still include them some way special. Thanks!

6-8 is the typical age range for a flower girl. Not sure of any alternative.

Agreed—I would just include the girls as flower girls. My niece was 7 and was a great age for it. She felt really important but we also didn’t have to worry about her throwing a tantrum during the ceremony.

I'm not sure of any alternatives either as they are normal age of a flower girl. I'm also not sure how well two 10 year olds will be at ushers.

If you just don't want them to throw flower petals then maybe you could have them blow bubbles or carry a cute wreath or sign instead. Or if you have a train they could have the job of carrying it and then spreading it out nicely when you walk down the aisle.
