Flower Girl Alternatives?

Kylee, on October 17, 2020 at 2:00 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 12

My FH and I decided we want a more small, intimate wedding and so we decided we may not have a flower girl. We already chose a ring bearer but we decided not to have a flower girl for the wedding since it's technically not required and we actually don't have anyone close enough to us that has a daughter that can be the flower girl. Our question is, are there any alternatives for a flower girl or is it okay to just have a ring bearer and no alternative for it? Thank you in advance! Smiley smile

It's perfectly fine to just have a ring bearer!

It's ok to have just a ringbearer or none at all.

I think it's fine to just have a ring bearer, and no flower girl! If there are girls you want to include, but don't want to have them as flower girls, you could do junior bridesmaids or readers (depending on their ages), or just skip it altogether.

Perfectly fine to just have a ring bearer! We were the opposite and had flower girls but no ring bearer.

Totally ok to just have a ring bearer. Don’t feel obligated to come up with other options.

I think its fine, you can have or not have whoever you want. I'm not having a flower girl in my wedding.

It's definitely okay not to have a flower girl. We didn't/won't have one. If you want an alternative, you could ask someone older to carry or toss flowers down the aisle. At some point I saw an article about "flower grandmas" which sounded like a cute/funny alternative to the more typical toddler version.

Do you have any pets? Flower girl is definitely not needed, but if it’s something you want to include a lot of people use their pets or flower grams is also a good option. We’re planning on using our dog as flower girl, but are still trying to figure out who to ask to walk her. So far the options that come to mind are our 2 sisters (they’d be about 18/20) or our grandmas.

Omg, that's funny that you say that because someone else suggested the same thing to me in my family. We do have pets and we're thinking about having one of our dogs be the flower girl! It's either that or there will be no flower girl at all which is fine with me too, either will work Smiley smile

We’re planning on hiring a dog sitting service to bring her to the venue and back home after the ceremony and some pictures. Make sure to check with your venue, ours says it’s allowed.
