Flower Girl can't throw petals… ?

FH and I are both Catholic, and are having a Catholic ceremony. When we met with our deacon, he dropped a bit of a bomb on us and said the flower girl can't throw flower petals in the church. What can we have her do? (Mini rant: we're also not allowed to throw rice, bird seed, confetti, flower...

(Mini rant: we're also not allowed to throw rice, bird seed, confetti, flower petals, or blow bubbles outside the church… my mom asked if we're allowed to breathe… UGH!)

Unfortunately, sparklers are illegal in New Jersey, so they won't be allowed either. Has anyone ever done ribbon wands for their exit and can share pictures they like?

I know what a kissing ball looks like, but what exactly is it? (The meaning behind it being called a kissing ball I guess?)

We can't have any animals (birds or butterflies) and the church won't allow a sign either. We aren't allowed to line or aisle with flowers, but I think I might do tulle bows…

Our flower girl is 7 and would not want to be carrying a wand, I think they're very cute though!

ETA: Future Mrs. Matthews, we just did a 27 butterfly release for my 13 year old sister's best friend who passed away. Not a single one was dead. No need to be rude when it was a lovely suggestion.

We're using kissing balls for our flower girls. Plus side is one will be 18 months at the time we get married so it will be easier to have her just hold our 4 year olds hand and have them both carry something down.

She can ring a bell or carry a sign that says "the bride is coming"
