Flower petals on the aisle?

Sarah, on June 10, 2013 at 10:45 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 4

Hello all!

I'm looking into decorations for our aisle and am seeing tons of adorable designs done on aisles with flower petals. Has anyone used them or seen them used? I'm concerned about my dress dragging them all along and ending up with a pile of them under my train when I make it to the end. Any experiences?

I've only seen the petals on each side of the aisle, which is what I think we'll do. I would think even the groomsmen and bridesmaids would mess it up before you even walk down the aisle. Seems to me that they're just for really, really nice pictures. You'd also have to have all your guests enter their seats/pews from the outside (which may not be a big deal, but for me I wanted my grandma to be able to sit close to the aisle and she can't scoot her way through the chairs).

I was at a wedding on Saturday. The petals were on the sides of the aisle. It was very pretty.

$700 sounds nuts to me. My florist quoted me the cost of the roses by the bucket, I would have to break them up myself. It was around $150-200 depending on the amount of buckets/colors I wanted. I decided against doing it. I just didn't think it was necessary as I was focused on minimizing my costs.

I ordered a sample of the freeze dried petals before. My florist urged against them saying that they are very light compared to regular petals. She's seen them get caught by the wind very easily and mess up the aisle.

We're doing petals on the isle but our flowergirl will be walking down second to last before me, the last couple being my youngest niece and nephew who will be carrying a sign, so there won't be anyone to spoil the petals. Also, we're using silk petals - a gallon bag of which cost about $8.00 because my sister and I bought whole flowers and took them apart to make a bag of petals, rather than spending $50.00 on the same exact thing from a seller on a popular handmade website.

We're using silk because a few years ago at my cousins wedding, they did real multicolored rose petals on the isle and heading out of the church and from them being walked on/crushed, they released the liquid inside of them...when my cousins new wife walked out of the church, dragging her train over the pretty petals...she went to get into their limo to realize that the entire underside of her train and dress was a multicolored rainbow...Her gown was permanently stained and she was crushed!!

I'm having scattered rose petals down the sides of the isle only, and I only wanted a light dusting which my florist quoted me to be $100. I think thats reasonable. My ceremony is outdoors so i'm also doing shepards hooks with decor hanging so the rose petals will just be extra.
