Flower planning help!

Jennifer, on April 1, 2021 at 7:01 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 6

Is anyone willing to give a little advice on purchasing flowers for a wedding? I am having a terrible time trying to figure out what flowers I actually need in terms of decorations for the reception and ceremony locations. Does anyone have any cost-efficient methods they used to get nice flowers for a reasonable price? Thanks y'all!

I’m using fiftyflowers.com. Its all wholesale. but I would also suggest checking out Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, or Costco’s(if you have one near you) floral if you’re DIYing.

This has been one of the most stressful parts for me! I found it helpful to call and talk to actual florists. I received quotes from a couple which allowed me to compare prices. Once I chose one to work with, she has helped guide me on decision because I know nothing about flowers lol. However, I am doing fake flowers for centerpieces so that I don't have to worry about what they will look like day-of, and I had luck with Michael's. They periodically run 50% off sales and I liked being able to see the flowers in person so I could tell which ones looked nice together and which ones looked tacky.

If you want real flowers I would call around and talk to florists. They will tell you what flowers are in season and that will help keep your costs down. Also, lots of greenery helps lower cost. For me my florist recommended reusing all of my ceremony pieces to my reception and that also helped save money. She even stayed and moved everything for me (we had everything in on venue).

We are using dual roles for wedding/ reception flowers. The flowers lining the isle will be put in tall vases for table centerpieces. The flower for the wedding arch will be used on the sweetheart table. Rose petals will line the isle as well as the cake table. This saves you a lot.
