Flower prices?

Rebecca, on January 10, 2017 at 12:08 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14

Hey everyone I was wondering what everyone has paid for real flowers? I know every area is different but I want to know how much most people pay on average? I have been trying to keep my budget low but I do need to have some flowers. I know I don't need a lot but need a boutique for me and little ones for my 3 bridesmaids, I need 6 boutonnieres for my FH, 3 groomsmen and father, and we will need to corsages for our mothers. We also need 1 flowers for each table it is going in cylinders with a floating candle but I don't know how many tables yet. How much do you guys think all of that would be? I'm just trying to figure out how much I will need and what to expect.

First, please lurk before posting. I know I've seen at least two posts today about flowers.

Second, once you DO lurk, you're going to see that price REALLY depends on where you live and what florist you use. I'm using a local grocery store and my 10-inch bouquet is $75, the bridesmaids are about $40, bouts are a standard $7.99, and my centerpieces are about $25 a piece. Those are the most costly, but I knew that going in because of what I wanted. But, again, it depends on where you live and what florist you go to. It also helps to know what kind of flowers you want. If they're in season, you stand a better chance at a lower price.

I think our bouquets and boutonnieres came to around $800 on the quote (for a similar number of items). Bridal - $200; Bridesmaids - $80; Bouts - $20; Flower girl (smaller BM bouquet) - $50

Total floral cost will be around $3500 including our centerpieces. Wedding will have 225 people in attendance (minus any no RSVPs).

We can't tell you how much that would be - like you said, this is going to vary by location, types of flowers, how elaborate the centerpieces are, and much more I'm sure. I'm in NYC/Long Island - my quote is $1750 for 13 tables (this is going to be higher b/c we increased the guest list), two bouquets, escort card table arrangement, sweetheart table arrangement, two bouts, two corsages, delivery, setup, and breakdown. They threw some things in there for free including a throwaway bouquet, and rose petals.

I agree it highly depends on where you are and what type of flowers you're getting. We were quoted around $2500. The bulk of it is our centerpieces (20 of them at $100 each) so the remaining $500 is for my bouquet, 2 bridesmaid bouquets, 6 boutonnieres and 2 corsages.

Flower prices are based on the flower, location and season. Considering we live in Los Angeles County, before we even started researching flowers, we knew they were going to be expensive. We based our prices on the florists. We wanted someone who was experienced with roses (I mostly roses in the arrangements and all roses for my bouquet) but who also had experience with wedding/big events. Just a heads-up, the experienced the florist, the more it will cost.

Check out Costco's bridal flower packages. They have a 20 piece package with 1 bridal bouquet, 3 bridesmaids bouquets, 6 corsages, 6 boutennieres, 2 centerpieces, and a toss away bouquet for $450. You can get all roses or roses with mini calla lillies. You can also order flowers in bulk which is probably what I will do.

This really depends where you are located and what flowers you want. If they are in season or not. I'm paying about $2500 in flowers in NJ And my venue package included the centerpieces. My bridal bouquet alone was $175.

This will depend on a lot of different things: size of the bouquets, the type of flowers you pick, the vendor you book, where you are located, the season of your wedding, etc.

Here are two great past forum posts about how much people paid for flowers:

I know location is a big thing just so everyone knows I'm in Maryland. I also know that the specific people who do it depends on the price. I wasn't looking for exact numbers but I was just trying to see how much everyone else has paid just to get a general idea of about how much. I have been LURKING but I am on mobile and can't search for them.

Depends on where you live. I live on Long Island, NY. We got quoted $4500 for 6 bridesmaids, 6 groomsmen centerpieces, aisle flowers, and parents flowers.

There is definitely a mark-up. A florist on youtube tried to explain the cost. She did a video where she compared two different low level centerpieces with roses. One only had eucalyptus leaves and the other had more expensive greenery and snow berries. The florist said the centerpiece with the eucalyptus leaves was $17 for floral supplies, the other one was $42 for floral supplies (her costs).

Now if she charged $100 an hour for labor and since these centerpieces are pretty straight forward I figured each centerpiece shouldn't cost more than $150.00. However, it would be no surprise to me if she ended up quoting $300 to $400 each. When I made a comment similar to this on her video, she deleted it, I wonder why.

So, that leads me to believe that there is in fact a big markup! She never said what she would end up charging for each arrangement in the video. Avoided that statement all together. Just trying to justify her cost without giving a final cost. It's just gouging and we all know this.

Pricing really depends on what you are looking for. You can typically get some wonderful ceremony flowers for under 1,000 dollars. Centerpieces though can diffidently bring up the price tag. They require large amounts of flowers. I have pricing information here https://www.theorchidflowerdesign.com/pricing if you would like to see some real pricing information.
