Flower Vendor - Any and All Advice Appreciated!

Jacqueline, on September 21, 2020 at 2:26 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

Hello,

I learned that the co-owner of the flower shop where we ordered flowers for our minimony (taking place Oct. 10th) passed away Smiley sad

It was her and her mom who pretty much ran the whole show, from what I could tell.

The remainder of the funds for our flowers is due today (9/21) and I was supposed to go in to drop off some items that I planned on using for my bouquet. They put out a post that they would appreciate patience and understanding during this time so my question is:

should I start looking for another flower vendor or should I wait and then reach out?

I feel terrible about the whole situation, especially since it was a mother/daughter business Smiley sad

I would reach out, given that you have a payment due today. I would just gently offer your condolences and also confirm that you are ready to pay the remainder for your October 10th ceremony (key is to have dates, etc. in writing). Good luck!

Absolutely still reach out— I would just be careful to communicate understanding for the situation, and be patient as it may take more time than usual to get a response. It doesn’t hurt to look around for a back up plan, but give her a chance first. Offer condolences. Let her know your payment is due but you’re not sure how to go about delivering it at this point but you want to make sure if it needs to get paid it does, if she is still able to handle your wedding.
