Flowers and color?

Kim, on August 8, 2011 at 12:19 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10

My colors are teal and yellow and I want to use sunflowers as my main flower but I'm unsure what will go with them. It's going to be a rustic wedding so I want simple. Any ideas on what I can put with them and stay with my colors?

Couldn't find much that had teal in it, but bouquets with just sunflowers looked beautiful too. Here's a couple I found that I thought were cute :-)

I'm not sure there are teal flowers, unless they're fake. Even blue flowers are few. But I'm not a florist, so ???

I think I might have to go with only the sunflowers and maybe put a few little white flowers in it. I have found a few pictures that I like but they don't tell what kind of flowers they are. And your right sunflowers alone can be very pretty. Maybe I can do most of my color teal and have the yellow be the accent color? Do you think that would look ok?

I would try something non-traditional, like Dusty Miller or various succulents. Eucalyptus is also pretty close in color (and smells good too!)

Few people know that you can color real fowers or even spray paint silks. Not all real flowers can be dyed but many of them can. Not sure where you are located but I own a florist and event planning business and I do it all the time. Especially the real/fresh flowers. In my profile pic the dark blue rosebuds were dyed to the color that the bride wanted. It does cost a little more then purchasing flowers that have not been dyed but it is worth it most of the time because we always want a happy bride.

No teal flowers found in nature that I'm aware. So if your style is rustic & organic, I would avoid forcing the issue. Tweedia, Veronica, delphinium, agapanthus & scabiosa are various shades of blue. Blue ribbon tie &/ or loops or mega wire can bring in a pop of color, though.
