Flowers - baby's breath in particular

Barbara, on March 5, 2017 at 6:06 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10

I'm thinking of ordering Costco/Sams Club baby's breath for our reception.

Have you used either? With how much success?

If you have, can anyone estimate how many bunches/boxes/stems would I need to generously fill 20 3.5" bubble bowls to be used as small centerpieces? I can't find any reasonable guidance. Some sites say 6, some 20. Help!

I've heard that in large quantities baby's breath smells very unpleasant.

Just gonna let you know right now...baby's breath in large quantities smells awful. Maybe consider using it as a filler with another type of flower.

I have had a 50% success rate with ordering flowers from Costco. I am personally not a fan of all baby's breath. It is a filler flower so I think there should be other flowers that you use as well.

I was thinking of using baby's breath too, but submerged in water. But I've heard good things about Costco and sam's flowers. I'm unsure about quantities as well!

@Miami, can you elaborate on your 50% success rate. I ask because I had planned on order roses in bulk from Costco.

I was thinking about baby's breath centerpieces too, but had no idea they smelled when in bulk! I went to a wedding in October where there was baby's breath centerpiece & it didn't smell..perhaps because it was in a tall vase?

@BeachDreams I ordered 100 bulk roses last year and sent them to my mom. She said they died in a few days and she thought they were poor quality. I ordered a single arrangement for her from there this year for her birthday to give it another shot and she liked those ones.

I am not telling anyone to not order from there, but you will notice mixed reviews. They will refund your money if you are not happy, but if I wont be ordering for my wedding because of the first experience. I do not want to risk it.
