Flowers from Sam's or Costco?

Michelle, on November 13, 2012 at 11:03 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

My FH had one non-negotiable for our wedding - open bar. Of course this has taken up a big chunk of our budget. The only flowers at our wedding will be our bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, etc. They are still seeming super expensive from a florist. Has anyone gotten flowers from Sams or Costco? I am scared to order online but right now it seems the only way to fit our budget.

I am going to a florist for our wedding party flowers, but are buying most of our flowers for the ceremony and reception from Sam's. I based my decision on the reviews. I'll be following this forum to see if any other WW brides went through Sam's or Costco Smiley smile

P.S. We're tying the knot on the same day Smiley smile

I plan on doing a Costco assortment of flowers and working in succulents that I plan on buying from Etsy. An open bar is also a must for us, so gotta trim the budget in other ways.

I've seen a couple of other posts today that refer to www.budget-bride.com. At first glance it looks like a great way to get flowers for cheap.

I've used flowers from Costco for several parties, always turned nice. There quite a few DYI tutorials online for some simple centerpieces. Make sure you order extra those, because not every flower will be in good enough condition to be used.

Thanks ladies, makes me feel a little better reading the reviews. I really like the idea of not spending a ton of money on something getting thrown away a couple days later

I used Costco and I have absolutely no regrets! The package I got was an assortment of all different types of flowers, separated into 18 mini bouquets. I hardly had to arrange anything. For my bouquet and the BM's bouquets, I bunched 2-4 mini bouquets together (see below) and the rest I put out in jar/vases. They were stunning and everybody loved it! We even made bouts for the gentlemen and it wasn't nearly as much work as I thought it would be.. Smiley smile Make sure you have friends to help and it should be a breeze! I only paid $200 and had more than enough flowers.

I have more photos somewhere, but not on this computer ;P

So what is the difference from ordering online with costco opposed to going into the store and purchasing?

Oh, my only advice is to order them 2-3 days in advance, trim the bottoms and stick them in vases of water for a night or two before you bunch them up in bouquets so that the blooms can open up properly! After put the bouquets and bouts together the night before, we kept them in the fridge, they were just fine the next day Smiley winking

Diane, I think if you go in store, they can answer questions on the spot for you in regards to care and how many orders you might need to place.. I wouldn't wait until the night before to go into the store to purchase flowers though, I would order ahead of time.. I ordered mine in advance and requested them to be delivered 2 days prior to my event at my doorstep.. worked perfectly.

In-store offers regular bouquets of flowers, like a bunch of roses or daisies or misc floral, the same as you'd see in any grocery store, which I don't think you can order online.

And online offers more packages of flowers, like the mini-bouquets that Jen used, or wedding floral packages to put together yourselves.

Another idea would be to buy the flowers in a wholesale place in Miami. I did an event once and you get to pick nice fresh flowers. The phone number is 305-629-9140...I don't really know the name of the place. Hopefully this helps too.

I am glad you asked this question! For some reason I never thought about looking at Sam's or Costco. I just checked out both websites and to me Sam's club had some great prices for full wedding packages around 300 dollars.

We're getting bulk hydrangeas and roses from Sam's for our centerpieces.
