Flowers to Mary -- Not sure what to do!

Melanie, on October 30, 2012 at 9:19 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 9

We are having a very traditional Catholic ceremony. At one point during the ceremony, we take flowers to the statue of Mary as an offering of sorts. I'm not sure what type of flowers to do though. My flowers are roses, my BP gets tulips, some centerpieces are calila lilies and chrysantheums.

Have any of you ladies done this? What are your thoughts?

My friend had a traditional Catholic wedding ceremony. Whoever was suppose to give the flowers to the couple for the offering didn't have them so they just used a bridesmaid bouquet in its place. I'm not Catholic so I'm not sure what the norm is but I would think any type of flowers would work. Maybe you could mirror your bridesmaid bouquet but just smaller?

I found this - it is from the Glorious Mysteries

“Hail, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, my Mother Mary, hail! At thy feet I humbly kneel to offer thee a Crown of Roses – full-blown white roses, tinged with the red of the passion, to remind thee of thy glories, fruits of the sufferings of the Son and thee – each rose recalling to thee a holy mystery; each ten bound together with my petition for a particular grace…”

    Hope that helps!

I’m getting married in a couple of weeks. I keep reading answers about the type of flowers but not the kind of arrangement. This truly helps
