Flowers/january Wedding

Destiny, on May 17, 2018 at 6:48 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10
So we are getting married in January. What did/would/will some of you do in the way of flowers?? Is it way more expensive in the winter? Did you only do flowers for bouquets and found other ways to decorate? Was it much of an obstacle at all? I’d love any and all input cause I really have no idea what I’m doing in planning this thing.

We're forgoing flowers entirely. Winter wedding, full of candles and fabric and paper goods.

My last wedding was planned for early February and we were planning on entirely dried flowers. Wedding didn't happen, so I can't speak to if it worked out or not.

My wedding is in December. I'm not having a bridal party so I'm looking at just a nice bouquet. I'm thinking of purchasing some small faux plain wreaths from the dollar store and placing hurricanes filled with ornaments and fairy lights instead. I've done so much research about what a waste of money flowers are. Good luck!

The price of flowers is more driven by your location. Some states and/or cities are just a lot more expensive than others. There will be certain flowers that will be more expensive during the winter. For example, peonies are a lot more expensive in December/January than June when they are in season. But, in general, the cost of flowers is not too dependent on the season. My wedding was December 23 and I had roses, peonies, anemones, berries and lots of greenery in the bridal bouquet and bridesmaids' bouquets. I used garlands to drape the pews and use as reception centerpieces.

I'm having a winter wedding and live in WI where it gets silly cold. I was told you need two bouquets of you do outside pictures cause one could potentially die. I am Instead making the bouquets and everything else with sola wood flowers. They wont die and I'm saving at a minimum $1000

I've never heard of sola wood flowers, I'm surfing their website now and I'm in love! We'll definitely be considering them closer to the time!

I'm definitely going to research dried flowers! I'm trying to find centerpieces I like that are in the same style of the rest of the wedding that don't include flowers

That's a great idea!! This whole time I've been thinking of flowers being an 'all or nothing' type thing LOL. I'm going to find out how little real flowers I can get away with
