fmil wearing white....accessories?

Hi all! I will start by saying I love my FMIL. She's wearing a light green dress to our garden wedding. She is shopping for a shawl, bag, and shoes, and asked if she can wear white. I said I didn't know what the etiquette is... And I suggested taupe instead. Just how far does the "guests don't wear white to weddings" etiquette rule go? Thanks!

    If it doesn't bother you, she can definitely have white accessories. IMO, the rule only applies to white dresses and even then it's only if the bride minds.

    Yeah, I always thought of it in terms of the dress. I think everything else is fair game.

    I feel like white accessories are fine! I wouldn't be bothered by a white sweater or anything, just a white dress would be a bit off-putting

    I think if you don't mind- Let her wear whatever. I don't mind what anyone wears, honestly. Because I am not even wearing white. But, it is really up to brides preference.

    If it’s just white accessories I think that’s fine. White will look good with green.
