Fog machine or no fog machine during the first dance?

So I'm having mixed feelings about having a fog machine running during our first dance. I've seen it where it looks great and creates such a romantic and dramatic look. Then i've also seen where it doesn't look so great. Also I'm curious if it will mess up my dress or make the dance floor wet or...

Sounds like a scene from a cheesy 80s movie. Skip it.

I don't think it's worth the cost. I also am a bit conservative and feels it makes it look like a Broadway show and less like a celebration of your marriage.

It doesn't do anything to the floor. Basically if this is something a person wants go for it. I saw it done at a few weddings and thought it was cute. I'm also a person who look for a change for my wedding something different. But this was a fail so I'm not doing it. If it was a good experience when it was tested definitely wouldve done it

I would personally skip it. Fog machines make me feel funny.

FMIL wanted FH and I to get a fog machine for our entrance. I "nope"-ed the hell out of that one. As PPs have said, unnecessary cost

Skip it... in addition to the money saving element and that it would mess with photo's, depending on your venue, they may not be equipped to handle it. I've seen venues take their fire alarms offline so brides can use fog/smoke machines or indoor fireworks. Not worth it.

I've seen this whole "dancing on the clouds" thing a lot recently. But I agree, skip it. It can really aggravate allergies, and also set off smoke detectors if there is adequate ventilation in the room. Use your money elsewhere.

Some venues don't allow fog machines, since they can set off the fire alarms.

Skip, it seems very 80's music video and no one needs the extra expense or thing to worry about on their plate

Skip. It screams rave to me, not wedding.

It's often referred to as "dancing on a cloud" and it's super expensive in my area. I know because some of the DJ packages offer this as an add on. I would skip it.

Fog is different to dry ice - what you’re referring to (the fog hugging the ground) is dry ice. A fog machine will fill the room with smoke (and set off smoke alarms) and ruin your photos. A dry ice machine will create fog that hugs the ground, but you need a lot of it, it involves dumping dry ice pellets into very hot water and it will leave water on the floor. They do make low fog smoke machines but they involve CO2 tanks and are very noisy (theatre technician here). I’d say skip it.

Another thing to consider with a fog machine are whether your guests have asthma, COPD, or any other respitory problems.

Personally I think it's totally unnecessary and costly, but I also have asthma so whenever events use fog machines I have to leave the area.
