If I have to pick one of those it’s buttercream. I don’t like fondant at all. But we’re not doing icing. Pound cake, whipped cream and berries.

100% buttercream. Fondant is for looks only and most goes straight in the trash. Most buttercream cakes these days are identical to fondant at half the price.

Buttercream because it's yummy and that's the most important thing.
Though fondant is good for decorating, it's sickeningly sweet.
