Food and Beverage Minimum (bay Area)

Adam, on February 22, 2022 at 3:43 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15

Hi everyone!!

I'm so confused with the minimum requirement because we are hoping to have 65-75 people and the venue we are thinking of having for our reception has a rental of $7,500 and food and bev minimum of $7,500... Isn't that too much? PLUS they dont include the tax and gratuity.

They include servers, bartender, dj and food staff. Would venues be willing to negotiate prices?

This is super common. It’s only too much if it extends you beyond your budget. Some venues may be willing to negotiate if you’re looking for a morning wedding or weekday wedding, but I’d your date on here is correct, I doubt a venue would negotiate for a holiday weekend.

How much is it per plate? That may be to much for your guest count as you are having less than 80 people. Only consider how many people out of the 75 guest drink which would count towards the cost of alcohol,

If you have 75 people there that’s $100/plate. That’s totally doable depending on what your food options are and what type of alcohol there will be. That’s not too much honestly that’s super reasonable especially in the Bay Area IMO.

This actually seems incredibly reasonable, since that amount includes not only the rental fee for the space, but also your catering, bar, DJ and bar/service staff.

Sounds very reasonable. My venue is 7800 to rent and nothing comes with that. )it will be almost 10000 by the time I’m done adding on the extras they offer). For 75 people my catering and bar bill is $10000. Florist, dj, photographer ,cake are all above and beyond that 20000. And i chose this place cause it was less expensive than Disney… lol

That's the equivalent of $100 / pp, which I think is very reasonable for the Bay area. I'm in LA and the minimums per person were anywhere from $80-250+ per person depending on the venue. If you're looking to save money, I'd say try looking at a venue with no rental fee, they're hard to find but so worth it. We got lucky and found an all inclusive one with no rental fee. Our cost per person is $150, but no rental fee and the fact that it includes food, tables+chairs, cake and open beer/wine/champagne bar it absolutely worth it to us.

As previous posts stated that’s very reasonable esp in the Bay Area! We got married on the east coast and everyone quoted us 10,000 and that doesn’t include anything besides food and beverage

We're down in San Diego for our wedding of about 40 guests and our minimum is $5,000 before tax & gratuity, but without a DJ. There were a few venues I priced out that had minimums of $7,500 or $10,000, so I'd say that $7.5k is totally reasonable, especially considering the fact that it includes a DJ!

Even back home in Kansas venues rent for $5k+ and that doesn't include food, bar service, DJ services etc.

The costs for weddings is mind blowing. Keep looking for other venues and be open. You’ll find something.
